School started again today, and it was just as fucking boring / uninteresting / useless as ever. Only six more weeks until our spring break, after which we still have a week to go before the internship starts. I can hardly wait! Working at the museum should be an interesting experience, although I am somewhat worried that I won't be of any use. ( Read more... )

What's like? Is it a large place? I know you mentioned it as where you're from.

I hope to visit Denmark soon, and then, if I'm lucky, Finland. Denmark, reason being, I recently learned my great great-grandmother was from there, from Aalborg in the northern part of the country, and I've been interested in Danish and Denmark ever since.

As for school, I begin myself this Fall. I'm your age, so I've been a little lazy about getting started, but I don't suppose I'm too old, either.

Turku is a nice place, yeah. It's not that big but then again no city in Finland is. I'm not sure what's so great about it, I suppose I want to go back because I'm too used to living there. However, I do wish to see other cities, too, so some day I'll move to a completely new city. :)

Sounds nice. Being interested in your roots is great. All Americans have their roots somewhere else, though. Must be nice but sort of sad at the same time?

What are you going to study? I suppose it's never too late, you can never be too old. ;) There's still time for you. I want to study something else too, I'm not sure if this tourism industry is really for me. Arts, media, history or languages interest me. :)

You said it precisely: it is nice (and interesting) but sad at the same time. One can feel lost, or lonely, or not belonging, if they think hard about it - which I do sometimes, but not often.

Since there are no interesting linguistics courses offered in my area (the only two are German and Spanish; these two do not interest me), I am probably going to study English. What my emphasis will be, I do not know. Creative writing, probably. But I have to earn a salary, so it may be journalism.

I would love arts or media, they interest me as well, but again, there are no good courses offered in my area. I'd have to move somewhat more north to receive any good education in those subjects. English is about the best thing taught here.
