i bought myself a pretty sweet car off of craigslist. if you take the time to do the research and visit, it's worth it. i got a 96 honda civic 2 door manual transmission for $1500 this summer and it's still running fine. until then, i suggest checking out some yardsales for SWEET bikes. good luck and happy 07!!

yeah, i know a few other people who did well off craigs list so if it comes to that ill check it out, id say 1500 is the market ill be shopping in.

did you know how to drive stick before you got the car? or did you learn on it?

i learned on the car. my friend's dad went with me to look at it, and he taught me. i started driving it after one lesson, but i was a quick driver. 5 speed cars are cheaper, and after you learn they're actually more fun (except in bumper to bumper traffic). i'd be careful buying a stick if you're planning on driving in and around the city. my car is for the highway: very little stopping and starting and therefore very little pressure on the clutch. an automatic is MUCH more preferable in traffic-y or just urban or suburban situations.
