Yay, I finished my icon set from The Mask of Zorro. I love this movie. Historically inaccurrate? Heck yeah. Stunning piece of intellectualism? Um...no. But it speaks to the superhero geek and the shipper in me and therefore, I am willing to ignore those things. I have a friend who would chew my ear off ranting about it. At least for the moment, my answer is, movies are meant to be fun. Sure, a filmaker can use the medium to make a point, to educate, to create something that he or she hopes will affect the audience in some way--make people think or feel in a way they might not have before. Beyond that, though, I really wouldn't want to pay the exorbitant sum of money required to GO to a movie these days if it wasn't going to be any fun. So, here is The Mask of Zorro, a little for you all to point back at the next time I get all in an uproar about some HORRIBLE director/screenwriter/producer/idiot whose period piece was so full of anachronism that I couldn't sit through it. Because, yeah, I've been known to do it. ;) Have I mentioned that I love this movie? As usual, most are simple. You're welcome to use as bases or as is.
I did some coloring experimentation these, which is what took me so long. Found a new blue coloring I really like with burn and soft light layers, but it really only seemed to work on the cave scenes. The rest of the movie kept coming out orange, so I messed around with color correction. I don't know how much I like them. Some still look too orange to me now that I'm uploading them, which probably means I'll end up doing more. Also, I really want to icon the second movie. I'm on an Elena/Alejandro jag at the moment, I guess. Problem is, I can't find caps. If anyone could point me in the direction of some decent quality ones, I would be thrilled.
Anyhow, Zorro.
