Timeworn
There was a faded construction paper heart on the wall behind his desk. It was one of several Manda had made back in the days when she wouldn’t have even thought of having another Valentine, but this was the only one that had survived. He was glad that at least one of them had, and he lovingly glued back the seashells, taped the tears, and even applied new glitter from time to time. She shook her head and sighed at him, but he didn’t tell her that she would understand someday. He only smiled, waiting patiently until she did.
