fic101 Positive Thinking
The whole team knew that Vala had broken a nail. In fact, they not only knew that she had broken it, they knew how long it took her to find her nail file, how difficult it was for her to file her nail properly while slogging through a swamp, and how inconvenient and painful a broken nail could be during offworld missions. If that wasn’t enough, they also learned how much-of her own money, mind you!-that she was going to have to pay for a new manicure…
“Vala, we’re in a swamp!” Daniel snapped, slapping a mosquito off the back of his neck as he cut off the diatribe. “It’s 105 degrees with 111 percent humidity! Alien mosquitoes are eating us alive, and we’re still more than an hour away from the ’gate!”
“Yes, darling, I’m well aware of all that,” Vala replied with an impatient huff.
“Then maybe you could find something to do besides complain about your nail!”
“Well, so much for focusing on the positive aspects of the situation…”
He smacked his palm into his forehead, groaning. “I give up.”
Vala stared at him with wide-eyed innocence. “What…? Daniel? What did I do?”
