Need to Know
He kept the tape on a shelf in his office. Technically, it should have been stored somewhere along with old mission reports and artifacts. Catalogued, classified, and forgotten. No one asked for it, though. Jack wouldn’t, and after a while, he realized that Hammond wouldn’t either.
He never watched it. He didn’t need to. It played itself over and over in his mind whenever his eyes lingered on it.
Cassie came to him about a week before she left for college, and they watched it together. He didn’t ask why. He knew. She laid her head on his chest, softly weeping, and he held her.
