This is pure Jpop. And AKB-ish Jpop, at that. It's a little faster on the BPMs than usual, making insertion of The Mix chants a little awkward, but I've seen more than enough Vocaloid wotagei at this higher speed in the past year to not be mentally appending what moves and chants should be done at each section ( Read more... )

I forgot about W. I actually knew of them.

I thought the same as you. I'm pretty picky when it comes to cutesy cute but I like this. I think it's just the fact that those darn Crayon Pop members are so likeable.

One thing suggesting j-pop associations is the fact that my first thought listening to this was "where are the castanets?". Of course castanets connote Wall of Sound and The Ronettes, but j-pop too. And tons of j-pop tunes. Most recent example in my youtube playlist:

Hah, what is that cheap-ass castanets synth, it sounds more like claves than castanets proper.
Synchro is most definitely straightforward Royal Road.

You know, I think "OK" would fit right in with this mega-mashup. Mostly because I just got this association from the guitars.

Asian Junkie and Ray Mescellado second the Hello!Project associations. Let's not forget the time Sooyoung almost sang Momoiro Kataomoi.
