More Crayon Pop

Edit: Is it just me, or is Bar Bar Bar kind of following the same kind of earworm aesthetic as "Tell Me?" /edit

Crayon Pop made their comeback this week with Bar Bar Bar, but I only just discovered this Bing Bing performance, and what is this pure gloriousness:

Thanks! If you have any other Crayon Pop links I'd love to know. raingilded has pimped to me clips from their documentary show, before (the one where they do Dancing Queen impromptu in their apartment complex's courtyard in the middle of the night XD) but otherwise I know nothing about them.

davidfrazer, who no longer posts on his own lj, is continually popping up on my comment threads - often no matter what the subject of the initial post - to give me the latest news on Crayon Pop. So I finally got around to creating a Crayon Pop tag, and you can go search for his comments. He's got many on this one.

Ellin, btw, was on variety show All The Kpop earlier this year (here it is with Eng Subs), may continue to be for all I know. There's an idea about that part of Crayon Pop's image is to be well covered-up and not greatly sexual (as opposed to a lot of other idol acts); there are screaming fights concerning this on YouTube comment threads. But on All The Kpop Ellin shows plenty of skin and is plenty sexual.

apologies for a two month late response, and no doubt a lot has changed re Crayon Pop since July but here is a pimp post that explains quite a bit http://jalhaseyo.tumblr.com/post/53853703919

I finally hit the play button on "Bing Bing" and it is freakin' catchy fun!

The way the brass eggs on the earworm chorus with synths and saxophone and all of these other little touches pile on in the background reminds me of SweetTune, but more finely crafted stay in control. "Ticket" makes no bones about being glorious maximalist chaos, jumping back and forth between different energy levels, whereas "Bing Bing" keeps bobbing to its laidback beat. The wall of sound that the chorus is almost doesn't feel like one because of how all of the elements are smoothly introduced over the course of the song, sliding in like they were there all along.

Jump into the track at any random point, though, and the density of the arrangement finally shows itself.
