It's not just me or the camerawork, right? The SNSD trio portion of this is...rather less energetic than the first perf? It's kind of noticeable since someone as skinny as Yoona really needs to be hitting as hard as possible to be effective dancing, and she just kind of gave up ( Read more... )

I see what you're saying.

The giving up seemed kind of deliberate; the dance was framed by a stance of indifference. (But yes, the boys seemed to have more energy.)

Yes, the routine is framed as indifference from self-confidence, but there still stands a marked contrast in energy compared to the original performance. In this one, the girls are still hitting hard where they need to, but only what they need to, and there's no drive in the in-between. In the original, there was a seething edge throughout the entire thing, hits were given an extra acceleration and snap, and the postures in between spent portraying that self-confident indifference. Here, it's an execution of the routine and nothing more.

Which, on the strength of the routine and execution alone, I would have been thrilled with, had I not seen the original performance.

Wow, I see the difference. (I think one of you posted the original recently, and I remember, now that I see it.)
