So in celebration of snsd_ffa's second birthday, I am launching two projects of great geekery: one SNSD-specific, and one that I hope to span across most Asian idol fandoms.
Oh wow, awesome stuff there AG. The statistics major in me is getting excited.
I saw your thread posted in SSF, so I'll help "promote" it somewhat.
Just had a quick look at the Idol Skill Ranker and I remember reading somewhere that physical attraction doesn't only encompass the physical beauty/symmetry of a face, but also the way faces form expressions. Somehow the way expressions are made is what builds longer term attraction (Need to dig up that article damn it).
Perhaps that's what also contributes to popularity? It made sense in my head; I give up. I don't even know where I'm going with this.
I'm in the middle of uni exams and tests, I'll be back in a few days to rifle through this one carefully muahaha.
Thanks! Always glad to see another geek in the fandom. And thanks for promoting! I should probably PM geop, too, since a lot of it was his/her idea. And redo those Screentime graphs. It should be interesting to see the breakdown of Time Machine.
So you mean someone's score might be different for a blank face vs. a face in an expression? That makes sense, since things like eye-smiles or dimples (and alligator mouths :3) are only present in expressions. Do you think I should have broken the "photogenic" category up, since, for example, fashion modelling would call for different expressions than in concert or variety? And since all of those things have different sets of expressions, they would elicit different scores of appeal, even perhaps changing the scores for those activities. Especially "photogenicity" to "dancing swagga" and "personality."
