I completely approve of your current Timmy Dalton crush. A++++! HOW IS HE EVEN REAL? He will always, always, always be the Edward Fairfax Rochester of my heart, even if he is decidedly too pretty for the role.
Don't even get me started on TLiW. I might become all keysmashy.
P.S. I'm so sad I missed him playing Asriel in the stage adaption of His Dark Materials. Timmy Dalton > Daniel Craig.
P.P.S. Rarmitage definitely has a Dalton thing goin' on, am I right?
I really want to rewatch his Jane Eyre again! I smushed my whole viewing into, errr, one day and consequently I spent all of my time trying to readjust to the mood of the piece rather than trying to wrap my thoughts around his Rochester. Agreed on the WAY TOO PRETTY point, haha, but he does at least have the intensity down (which totally works for Heathcliff, too. Actually I was just thinking that I would be FOREVER AND EVER in love with a mash-up of his JE and WH adaptations -- like, the miniseries length and detail of JE, but with the atmosphere and romanticism of WH, AND IT WOULD BE THE MOST PERFECT THING EVER. Sigh).
The Dalton/Rarmitage parallels are quite clear! They both have that whole tall and sleek and intense and those eyes and those thighs and nnngggg -- err, I mean, and they can act, too. Rarmitage seems to have a more solidly respectable repertoire, though, but I actually COMPLETELY LOVE that Dalton has a fair amount of questionable titles under his belt. But, yes, they both transition well between costume dramas and

Oh, his Rochester is just rrrrr. I think I've seen it about ten times! The ridiculous prettiness (Edward: "Oh, how could you find this craggy brow handsome? Won't somebody think of the phrenology!" Jane: "Pssssh, get out of town! You could totes be a male model!") is totally offset by his pushy, aggressive grumpiness. (Ciaran Hinds, on the other hand, way overdid the grumpiness.)
A mash up of his JE & WH? YESYESYESOMG!
I know Bond fanatics hate the Dalton films, but I just adore them because it's TIMMY BLOODY DALTON! And yes, I hadn't thought about Lucas having Bond-ish qualities! You're absolutely right.
Edward: "Oh, how could you find this craggy brow handsome? Won't somebody think of the phrenology!" Jane: "Pssssh, get out of town! You could totes be a male model!" Hahahaha, this is probably the best recap of that scene ever (and also, so true).
A mash up of his JE & WH? YESYESYESOMG! I KNOWWW. WHY MUST IT ONLY EXIST IN MY BRAIN?
Bond people who hate Dalton: OFFICIALLY MY LEAST FAVORITE PEOPLE EVER. I mean, before I watched the movie I was willing to concede that maybe he just wasn't the best fit for the franchise, and there can be a certain corniness to him if there isn't that costume drama buffer (although come on, this is the franchise that gave us SEVEN ROGER MOORE FILMS, you'd think they'd be okay with the B-list cheese) -- but after watching it, I'm like... wait. He was actually badass and good at his job and debonair and super swoony with his lady and awesome in all of the action sequences (yes, even with the cello). I was reading a ranking somewhere online of Best Bonds where they marked him down for monogamy in The
