TV of 2009, continued...

I am never going to finish this recap, am I? I don't know why I'm so demotivated this time around; in years past, it has always been my favorite bit of my year in review. Possibly I am just getting bogged down... um, yes, you can probably see why I needed to implement that "no new shows" rule. So, anyway, TV I Have Seen! Spoilers for: House, Legend ( Read more... )

Lets see...

House: I find I'm appreciating the series more now after Sherlock Holmes, espesh as THEY HAVE NOW MOVED IN TOGETHER IN A PLACE OF THEIR OWN (alas not in 221b) the parallels are too many and two awesome to ignore. For me, it still works, I am genuinely interested to see where this show can take me or if it just sticks to the banter and a mystery I'm still cool. Oh, I really don't care that Chase is divorcing Cameron as long as he doesn't hook up with 13. And can't wait for the Cuddy episode.

Oh oh wait, I meant to comment on other shows too heh.

Merlin: Yes, season 1 was better, but I've enjoyed Morgana's story I want to see her in full potential finally and not just a pretty medieval socialite and occasional shield maiden.

NCIS: I was so desperate for diversion I actually downloaded some eppies from this season, then decided I wanted NOT to give myself ulcer and quit.

Pushing daisies: Have you seen the finale? Can you tell me anything that isn't spoiler-like cause I have to get down and watch the whole thing but I haven't argh!

I think with House, it's kind of like... there are parts I am still interested in (I do genuinely still like, well, pretty much EVERYBODY on the show, which is actually something of a wonder), but whereas before I could get into the PotW storylines and running background plots and tightly insightful writing, now I'm kind of like... fastforward, fastforward, WAIT HEY IT'S WILSON, fastforward (although, actually, last week was rather EPIC AND AWESOME and I don't think I was bored once, even, which bodes well! I haven't seen tonight's yet, though, on account of WHHHYYYY FOX DID YOU MOVE HOUSE TO MONDAYS AGAINST CHUCK?? Because I totally just watched Chuck instead, so House is still sitting on the DVR). I do see what you're saying here: I am genuinely interested to see where this show can take me or if it just sticks to the banter and a mystery I'm still cool. -- and for me, yeah, it does still work as a fairly solid procedural. I think I'm just turning into one of those bitter old fans, though, all, "Back in MY day...!!" because I do ( ... )

At this point it is basically impossible for me to drop this fandom because, I don't know, that's just how my brain works; and yet a large part of me also feels that the show has run its course, and it is probably time to just wind it down and say good-bye; so, uhh, I'm half hoping that it will be canceled so I can stop watching it without feeling guilty?

This is exactly what I'm like with Heroes. Except that Heroes is a much worse show so I have a lot less of an excuse.

I have probably watched like 100 episodes of this and yet I could not tell you what 80% of them were aboutHehe, this is truth. I can't really watch any other criminal investigation shows because of the violence and the murder porn but I do like NCIS. Plus you can just come in at any time during the season and it doesn't *really* matter ( ... )

I've probably said this to you before, but I genuinely think Lost is underrated, at least critically. It's not the Sopranos, but as you say, it's not meant to be and it's not in the same kind of context. But in terms of where it is in TV land it is *so* much more intelligent, interesting and profound that so many of its peers, and there's so much in it that is different from what you usually see.Hmm, is it self-serving if I agree with you agreeing with me? But. Dude. WORD TO ALL OF THAT. I think the backlash against Lost since, well, pretty much since the first season ended has been pretty frustrating. Do I think the show is flawless? No. But I think people often criticize the wrong things, and try to make it out like it's failing at something that it isn't actually trying to be in the first place. Gosh, I'm such a Darlton stan -- but I know they talked about this a lot back in S3, when the show finally got a confirmed end date and everybody was asking, you know, would it have been better if they had such a tight format all along, and ( ... )
