Now that I am finally catching up on the internet at large from the past few weeks, it's time for some linkspam!

I'm still trying to get through all of the greatness that came out of various Robin Hood-related gift exchanges. Not to toot my own organizational horn or anything, but the capslock_hood Secret Santa turned out AWESOME, even if the comments ( Read more... )

Yes, that tapestry is creepy as all get out - mostly because it reminds me of Jocelyn Wildenstein, aka The Cat Lady. Those pincushions are gorgeous, but I couldn't conscience paying $40 for that simple tapestry thing. It probably is more challenging to make than it looks, but still. Not pretty or impressive enough to warrant my purchasing it, though.

Glad you liked the wallpaper! :)

Not pretty or impressive enough to warrant my purchasing it, though. That's my mindset, too, and I know it's problematic -- because, again, with my small experience of dabbling in embroidery, I can say that the combination of tools/materials/work hours put into that piece probably warrants the $40 price tag, and yet to look at the end result, it just seems so absurdly expensive. For the most part, hand sewing really has been priced out of the market; it's basically impossible to charge a fair price for labor, and yet still cost something that would seem reasonable to most consumers. This is why the majority of the textile industry is still stuck in sweatshop wages, because we've been so conditioned to want to pay as little as possible. I feel so split... as a consumer, I am the ultimate cheapskate; and yet as a sometimes-producer, I have a vague idea of what is a fair price; and the two very rarely meet ( ... )

I KNOWWWW. I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THAT KATE'S EYEROLL AT :07-:08 IS DIRECTED AT THE PROMO IN GENERAL. I am comforting myself with the knowledge that D&C have very very very little to do with promos, and ABC is notorious for cheesing it up as much as possible, and hopefully TPTB who are responsible for actual storylines hate this type of shipmongering as much as we do...
