I have no idea how I did not know of this sooner, but as some kindly soul at robinhoodbbc just brought to my attention -- Robin Hood series three finally airs in America starting this weekend! !!!! Why am I excited about this? I've already seen it all -- repeatedly -- and angsted about it all -- repeatedly. I also know there's about a 0% chance that I'm going ( Read more... )

the one where he talks about 2.10, for instance, and how Guy asking Marian to marry him was for once not about having her as a possession but about saving her as a person who he loves
I CANNOT SEE THIS AS I AM NOT IN AMERICA AND MY HEART, MY HEART IT LOOOOONGS

Ahahaha, Hunks of Sherwood Forest, LOL FOREVER. Though yes, like you say, Tuck say what now?

Oh, I hate the regional blocks on show websites, arrrghhh! Well, I know I've seen some clips from the same interview on YouTube so it might be lurking around there somewhere, but... ahem... in my ardent enthusiasm I decided to go ahead and type up a transcript for it anyway (because, yes, IT IS JUST THAT GOOD; the bits in brackets are the parts of episode clips that they cut into Richard's interview)

[Opens with bit from 2.11 - Marian: I thought I saw a different side to you, Guy.] Episode 10 is quite a turning point for Guy. [clip from 2.10 where he rides out of Nottingham] At the moment he's about to leave, he realizes he can't go. [Without her, my world may as well turn to ash.] He kind of goes back into Nottingham a different person. [Guy: Marian! Marian: You came back!] That's when he's truly taken to the furthest point that he will be taken in the story in terms of his benevolent humanity. I don't think it gets any more benevolent than that for him, and I think the whole process of this dilemma of -- you're going to have to get ( ... )

He needs to save her, and his plan to get her to marry him so that they can leave together would once have been about 'I can get her now' but actually in episode 10 he's changed. It's about saving her. It's about truly loving her enough to just do anything to save her life, which is a big leap for him.
OH RICHARD. MY EYES ARE HEARTS LIKE A JAPANESE CARTOON CHARACTER. (You rock for transcribing that, thank you so so much!)

I can't help wondering what this means for his Richard III when he eventually gets around to doing it. I can only imagine it means I'm highly likely to end up crushing on a fatally flawed (good-looking) murderer. OH WAIT.

I can only imagine it means I'm highly likely to end up crushing on a fatally flawed (good-looking) murderer. OH WAIT.HAAAA. Okay. True story? I was taking this Shakespeare course, errr... one semester... I guess maybe like two years ago? Not that the time is important. ANYWAY. But we were reading Richard III and, okay, so for this class we had to contribute a certain number of online discussion posts per week. Most people just kind of half-assed it with things like, "I liked this play. It was good," or, my most/least favorite of all time, a two-word "I agree!" in response to somebody else's post. But, y'know, I can never resist some good internet rambling, so I'd always end up posting these massive and generally nonsensical discussions because, what the hell, it's part of the assignment, and at least it's less embarrassing than saying stupid stuff in the middle of class. But back to Richard III -- that day in class we had just been ( ... )

Funny you should mention this right now, because BBC America just showed 2.07, and I just caught the end of it when Guy is being terribly (and adorably?) inappropriate. MY HEART HURTS WHENEVER I SEE THEM. GOD, THIS SHOW HATES ME AND LOVES ME AT THE SAME TIME.

And it's like the biggest crime of all television that Marian couldn't interact with Isabella or Prince John.

WELL STATED, MY FRIEND. WELL STATED. I feel kind of weird tuning into the episodes, actually, considering that I've seen everything so recently with the capslock_hood rewatches, but I just find it so thrilling that I could turn on the TV AND IT WOULD BE THERE. ...Well, no, sometimes that can be bad; I remember right after the Finale of Doom I had just spent way too long wallowing on the interwebs in my all-consuming sorrow and was like, "Forget this mess, I just need to go work out and get my mind off things," but when I turned on the TV (I... cannot work out without watching something. EXERCISE MACHINES ARE BORING) it was a goddamn episode of Robin Hood staring right back at me, FATE WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH, I can't even remember what episode it was but it doesn't really matter because anything would have made me go "AUGH NO WHY THIS EPISODE" (I thiiink it might have been 1.09?) so basically my soul was destroyed anew. THANKS, BBCA. THANKS A WHOLE LOT ( ... )

there is a small but growing Mazabella fandom
This is a great and glorious thing.

If Marian and Isabella had managed to team up FOR GREATER JUSTICE my head might have exploded with the sheer perfection of it all.
Ahaha, this just further tempts me towards actually writing the 'Magnificent Exploit Of Mazabella' (in heroic couplets) that an_lagat_glas and I had joked about...

I'm so glad that after the grand course of everything horrible that has happened between the show and us as viewers, we can still enjoy the heck out of the worthwhile bits because OH, OH, SO WORTHWHILE. ♥
