Oh my god WHAT have they done to Guy?? Has he gone insane after killing Marian? Did they REALLY have to go that melodramatic? The actor, whatshisface, must be so embarrassed.
Then again, this is Robin Hood. How else were they going to play it out?
Yeah, there is over the top and then there is "OVER THE TOP" AS IN "LIFTING ROBIN HOOD OVER THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD WHILST YELLING 'ARRRRGHHHH'", and I'll be damned if RH hasn't fully embraced the latter. I... don't even know any more. Sigh.
Although of course I think you're right -- it is Robin Hood, Ye Master of All Things Crack, so it only makes sense that, once the show dives headfirst into angst, it does so in true crack fashion. It's... hm... an interesting combination for the moment. I don't know. Rrrarmitage certainly is looking a bit ridiculous so far. He's stepped over the edge, as it were -- ha, yeah, this show is anything but subtle in its imagery as Guy makes a mad dash for the edge of the cliff and starts threatening to chuck people over, displacing his own self-destructive desires. As always, I think RA's intense, purposeful acting choices do a lot to pull together the goofier elements of his current look. I mean, yes, much fun is to be had at his expense, but the scene where Tuck comes into Locksley and Guy goes off on
( ... )
Primeval (which airs at the same time as R.H - I could download but arg too many shows as it is) is about to go epically tits-up so I might consider returning to the Hood fold soonish...
Haha, well, I can't say that Robin Hood is necessarily a better bet at this point in time, but at least it got its HUGE HORRIFIC SHARK JUMP out of the way last series so now it's just like... yeah, this a terrible awful no good show, so where do we go from there? Anyway, as always, I'll be happy to squee with you should you decide to pick it up. :)
Well admittedly the reason I suspect Primeval is going to suck is that it's killing its main character off. But it's more that I'm not emotionally invested in anyone else's character in Primeval rather than the principle of the thing.
