I watched Meet the Robinsons last night, and, well, ( spoilers, although the discussion really doesn't end up having much to do with the film but quite a bit to do with fandom neurosis. )

I... just... bzzzrrttt whaaat SGA breaks my brain in new and exciting ways that I didn't think possible. I suppose the only mega-crack fandom I was ever in was HP, except to be honest despite my years of obsessing I only ever dipped my big toe into that ocean of crazy because 1) I was about twelve when I started reading them so I'm pretty sure all my early forays into fic were ooshy and OBHWF-related and 2) I really can't bring myself to care about the sex lives of grade-schoolers.

But in hindsight, maybe I should have given it a shot so this would all seem slightly less wtf this time around. Buuut then to counter that counter-point, half the fun is the fact that even though I feel like I've built up quite a high wtf-threshold over the past few weeks, there still exists fics which can break through those barriers. In reading this rec list -- hahahaaaaaoww OMG I think I broke something. "The One Where John is Whoopie Goldberg"? Oh God I don't even know the proper way to respond to that (other than, y'know, reading it. Because how ( ... )
