Beauty and the Beast: Linda Woolverton drew her inspiration for the screenplay, not from Jean Cocteau's Belle et la bête, La (1946), but from Little Women (1933), admitting that there's a lot of Katharine Hepburn in the characterization of Belle. I couldn't help but laugh when I read this -- Belle is my favourite Disney heroine, and one of the biggest influences from my childhood, and now Katharine Hepburn is my favourite actress and a huge inspiration in my life. Coincidence? I think not.

I was madly in love with Belle when I was young ^^

Ever After: In actuality, Da Vinci's Mona Lisa was painted on wooden panel, making it quite impossible to roll up into a tube. Ahahaha, I think my mom must have submitted this one! She has to say that every time I watch the movie, and I'm like, "Mom... That's not really the point...!" But, well, if you're watching for historical accuracy -- now you know! That whole Mona Lisa thing in the movie amused me highly ^^ and what a lovely movie btw. I saw it the first time this past month actually. I ♥ ( ... )

When I was really little, my favourite Disney movie was actually The Little Mermaid, but Beauty and the Beast has since made its way to the top of my Disney triumvirate (the third film being Aladdin, of course).

Eeee! Is Ever After not the most adorable, squee-worthy, childhood-wish-fulfillment-esque movie EVER? When I was in elementary school, two of my friends and I used to watch it literally every single weekend; I still get chronic Dreamy Sigh Syndrome every time I think about it.

I actually knew that about Lawrence of Arabia! One of my favorite movies by far.

Me too -- it's the only film I would describe without reservation as absolutely perfect.

*sighs* I adore Belle, too. What a lovely story that is. I still kinda wish that that would happen to me. But actually, I think that the Beast looked better as a... beast. Is that weird?

No! Haha, I actually feel like everybody says that. The Beast is just so gruffly masculine and commanding, and the prince is so... not, LOL. Not that I really mind him too much in his less furry form, it's just that you spend the whole movie getting to know and love him in one incarnation that it's a little disconcerting for him to change at the last moment. I guess it makes it easier for him and Belle to make out, though, without all those fangs and horns getting in the way ;)

Oh, yeah, that must be what is it... I'm missing gruffiness and men who can command me around. Seriously. I do.

Also, if I'm not too confused here (and I don't bother to google just now for it): isn't the Prince, or whatever he is (sorry, haven't actually seen it since it came out), blond - but the Beast is brown-furred? I think at least he should be dark-haired. That helps up the general impression of.. whatever we want him to be.

I think the Prince has a sort of auburn thing going on with his hair, but, yeah, I totally get your point. It's like, hey, what happened to the brooding hotness??

I've heard people say that An American in Paris is the true masterpeice, but I still like Singin' in the Rain better!

I knew the Gone with the Wind and LOA triva; clearly I need to get out more! This is a cool meme, I shall do it.

Honestly, I quite like Singin' in the Rain, but I feel like I always have to be so defensive and protective whenever I talk about An American in Paris, haha. SitR is definitely sillier and a lot of fun to watch, and yet I can't really see it as the "greatest musical ever made." I also have a total crush on Georges Guetary in An American in Paris, so I guess that makes me slightly biased ;)

I did know the LoA trivia, but not the one for GWTW. It seems like everybody and their mom was considered for the leads in that film, and it's hard to keep it straight sometimes!
