Sungmin gulped as he looked up into the barrel of a gun that was aimed at his head, then at its wielder. The temperature in the sealed room was unbearably hot. Beads of sweat mixed with blood rolled down the sides of his face, drenching his shirt, and his breathing was labored due to the pain he currently felt in his left flank, where a bullet had just grazed his skin.

Never in his life did Sungmin ever think that they would end up in a situation like this. Especially when the person aiming a gun at his head and actually having the desire to pull the trigger was his best friend.

"Hi! My name is Ryungsaeng! What's yours?" A kid around his age stuck his hand in 10-year-old Sungmin's face while he was focused on his manuscript that lay in front of him, trying to learn the chords for the guitar.

Sungmin looked at the bubbly kid with an odd expression on his face. He wasn't someone who was very fond of people who were loud. But still, he took the kid's hand in his, and shook it slightly before releasing it. "Sungmin," he said simply.

What he didn't expect was that this noisy kid eventually became his best friend, since they went to the same high school, and ultimately, college. Needless to say, they got themselves into trouble all the time, only to satisfy their mischievous thoughts. They were virtually inseparable, and were touted by many as "the devil pair".

But things started to change when Sungmin got himself a girlfriend in college. She was pretty, tall, smart… and Sungmin was completely smitten with her. So much that he hardly ever hung out with Ryungsaeng anymore. Most of Sungmin's free time would be spent with her, much to Ryungsaeng's annoyance.

And Sungmin never noticed how jealous Ryungsaeng gets when he talked about her to him, or exchanged light kisses with her in front of his best friend. Little did he know that his best friend was actually in love with him.

"Open the door, Ryungsaeng! Let Sungmin go!" Kangin's voice came from outside, as he pounded frantically on the door.

Ryungsaeng's head snapped to look at the direction of the door, with his gun still aimed at Sungmin's head. "Go away! I'm warning you; I'm really going to shoot him!" The pounding immediately stopped.

"Saeng-ah… Why are you doing this…?" Sungmin asked, wincing in pain when his own sweat flowed into his wound, which stung like hell.

"It's because of you. It's all because of you. You knew I loved you, Sungmin. Yet you still started a relationship with her. If that's not enough to break my heart, you even told me you're getting married to her as if you don't know about my feelings! What the fuck do you take me as, huh?!" Ryungsaeng said through clenched teeth, grabbing Sungmin roughly by the scruff of his shirt. The tip of the gun dug deeper in Sungmin's collarbone, making him flinch from the pain.

"I told you… I don't swing the other way, Ryungsaeng. You knew I'm into girls… And you know I only think of you as my best friend…"

Ryungsaeng let out a maniacal laugh at Sungmin's words. "Do you know that because of your defiance and your refusal to accept my feelings, you caused your fiancée's death?!" His hand shifted from Sungmin's shirt to his head, yanking his hair hard. The gun barrel assumed a new position under Sungmin's jaw. "Take a good look for yourself!"

Hot tears stung Sungmin's eyes as he looked at his fiancée's lifeless body that lay on the cold floor, blood oozing out from her abdomen and pooled beneath her. He had dragged her into this, and eventually got her killed… The more Sungmin had begged Ryungsaeng to let her go, the more force his friend hit her with. The more she cried out in pain, the happier he became. And when he had got bored of her screams, he pulled the trigger.

The thought of his best friend's unrequited love that turned him into a neurotic, merciless killer had certainly not crossed Sungmin's mind. The Ryungsaeng who was usually so calm, so happy, and hardly ever got mad at others… what happened to him?

"What do you want to accomplish, Ryungsaeng?!" Sungmin suddenly yelled out in frustration. Ryungsaeng smirked.

"What do I want? You."

"You know it's impossible - please, stop all of these, Ryungsaeng…"

"Impossible?" Ryungsaeng let out a sadistic laugh again. "If I can't have you, Lee Sungmin, no one can! It's forever or never, Sungmin. Your choice." His long fingers traced Sungmin's jaw line, whom shivered at the contact.

"Never." Sungmin hissed, as the back of Ryungsaeng's hand connected with his face. The force broke the bridge of his nose, causing it to start bleeding profusely. Sungmin licked the blood off his lips, and spat in his former best friend's face.

Ryungsaeng wiped the spit off his face with an annoyed expression, and pushed Sungmin backwards, aiming the gun at him once again. Sungmin clamped his eyes shut and took in a deep breath when he felt the cold metal of the gun against his sweat-drenched skin, preparing himself to be killed by his best friend.

"Goodbye, Lee Sungmin," Ryungsaeng said quietly, but the smirk could be heard in his voice. Sungmin decided not to respond to him, and gulped when he could hear the sound of metal clicking against each other.

I'm coming, my love. Wait for me…

The sound of a loud bang could be heard, and Sungmin waited with bated breath for the bullet to put a hole in his skull… but there was no pain. Instead, there were some odd choking sounds near him. He opened an eye, just to find Ryungsaeng lying on the floor, a pool of blood slowly spreading in diameter underneath him. Sungmin looked up and saw the police at the door, with his group of friends behind them, and realized that he had been saved.

But the first thing that crossed his mind was to hold Ryungsaeng in his arms. Tears started streaming down his cheeks as he looked at his best friend whose life was ebbing away, slowly but surely. The police officer who opened fire had put a hole through his heart.

"Sungmin-ah… do you… know how glad… I am to have… known you…?" Ryungsaeng said, blood spluttering out of his mouth with every word.

"Yes… I know… You've told me a lot of times…" Sungmin sobbed.

“I’m sorry… for killing her… But I just… Can’t bear to… see you being with… her…” Ryungsaeng’s hand reached up and caressed Sungmin’s face, and Sungmin could only shake his head profusely, tears still flowing down his cheeks in a steady stream. He didn’t care if it stung his wounds. The warmth from Ryungsaeng’s hand gradually decreased, and eventually, his arm fell limply on top of his bloodied body. Sungmin sucked in a deep breath and prayed silently for his friend, as the medical personnel, police officers, and his group of friends fussed around him.

"Sungminnie, are you okay?!" Leeteuk had helped the younger male up, and frantically asked when he noticed that the blood was spreading on his shirt. Sungmin nodded weakly, before collapsing into his hyung and Kyuhyun’s arms.
