Chapter 18
"I do think that you're being a little too obvious with your blatant gawking of Sungmin hyung, Huiying," an amused voice came from her right in the form of a whisper while she was plain staring into the distance, waiting for her hair to be styled in preparation for the concert that night.
Huiying's face slipped off the palm that was supporting it as a result of the surprise, and she did not hesitate to send a scowl at the person who pulled the empty styling chair closer to hers, and was now seated on the armrest of the piece of furniture, grinning
mischievously at her. "Wow, thanks for openly saying that, Cho Kyuhyun. You're announcing it as though the whole world doesn't know about it yet," she deadpanned, frowning as she remembered the events that had occurred earlier.
Not long after Sungmin had confessed to her, asking her to give their relationship a shot that particular morning, they made a grave mistake of walking out of her hotel room with their fingers laced together. What they did not expect was for Henry to be leaning against the wall right outside, grinning at them in amusement. Apparently the boy had heard Sungmin leaving his room, and stalked him all the way to the end of the corridor where Huiying's room was situated at.
Needless to say, the whole group eventually came to know about Sungmin and Huiying's relationship even though it had barely began for an hour, courtesy of the violinist. They weren't planning to tell anyone until several months later when they could be sure that their relationship was stable enough to be sustained for a longer time. Even though Huiying pitied Henry, she felt that he deserved what befell him. She oddly enjoyed seeing him being chased around by her boyfriend, who was screaming bloody murder at the younger boy for not being able to keep things a secret.
The other members didn't seem to be too surprised with the revelation, however, because most of them just lookedat the pair with an amused smile, before nodding in acknowledgement andwalked away without batting as much as an eyelash. Sungmin and Huiying were freaked out senseless before that, though, as they had initially thought that they would be bombarded with question after question - Sungmin had filled her in with his past experiences when Jungsoo, Jongwoon and Ryeowook were caught having a girlfriend - but heaved a sigh of relief when they realised that none of that was going to happen.
"Yeah, seriously, did you think that we would all be so oblivious about the things that are happening around us? We pretty much guessed that you would end up together; it was just a matter of time, and when Sungmin hyung would finally confess to you. He gushes over you like a schoolboy whenever he's in the dorms, and trust me, you don't want to see that happening," Kyuhyun commented, flashing an innocent smile at his roommate's direction when he caught sight of Sungmin flashing a warning glare at him through the mirror. Sungmin was most probably wondering what Kyuhyun was telling Huiying in private, as the girl raised an eyebrow interestedly at her boyfriend.
"Well, we were scared shitless thinking that we'd be interrogated until the concert starts, but I guess not. And did he really do that?" she mused, laughing when the mental image popped up in her head. She was definitely tempted to clarify the situation with Sungmin, but that would have to wait until they got onto the plane back to Korea later that night. He wouldn't have much time to stop to chat with her during the progression of the concert after all; she had experienced how hectic the backstage would get at the previous touring location.
"Yes, but I'm not really supposed to tell you this, so please don't mention anything to Sungmin hyung about it. I have a girlfriend, and I don't want my life to end this early," he pouted, easing into the empty chair when he decided that the armrest was too uncomfortable a surface to be sitting on. His behind was beginning to turn numb.
Huiying merely laughed at his adorable plead, shaking her head in amusement. Even though Kyuhyun would act mature most of the time, his well-hidden childishness would surface once in a blue moon, and she found it absolutely endearing. She couldn't help but wonder whether it was one of the reasons why Kyuhyun's girlfriend fell for him.
"Don't worry, Kyuhyun, your secret's safe with me… for now. I can't guarantee whether I can keep it under a tight lid for long; you know how persuasive your roommate can get at times," Huiying commented, grinning mischievously at her friend whom groaned loudly in response, causing the stylist who was working on Huiying's hair to gasp in surprise at the suddenness of the event. The three of them looked at the comb which fell with a resounding thud onto the floor, and were all about to reach for it at the same time when his manager walked past and picked it up for them instead.
Kyuhyun nodded apologetically at the stylist noona after his manager had walked off, the tip of his tongue sticking out like a child. When the stylist merely shook her head and resumed what she was doing earlier, Kyuhyun shot a frown at Huiying instead. "Thanks, Huiying, but I think that's a little too much information for me," he shuddered playfully, and her eyes widened when she realised what he was implying.
"God, Kyuhyun! Get your mind out of the gutter please! We don't do that in private!" she hissed, face turning a bright shade of red from the embarrassment.
"So you do it in public? Please don't tell me you're going to turn into another Teukkie hyung-Angie noona couple; we can only handle so much public displays of affection, you know," Kyuhyun laughed again, raising his arms defensively when Huiying reached over to land a hit on him. The chuckling only died away when she mustered an angry glare and threw it in his direction. "Fine, I'll stop!" he choked out, though the infuriating smirk remained on his face.
"You're being difficult here, Cho Kyuhyun. One more word from you about our relationship and you will definitely see Ming chasing after you with his nunchucks," she pointed out firmly, showing that she wasn't in much of a mood to tolerate that much teasing for one day.
"Yes, yes, I got your hint. I'll definitely stop passing comments about you and Sungmin hyung from the next second," Kyuhyun solemnly promised, still trying to contain his laughter. It was amusing to fool around with Huiying; she would always act tough at the beginning of the debate, only to completely lose her feistiness and turn absolutely shy when an embarrassing topic was brought up.
Huiying eyed him cautiously for another brief moment, before she flashed a playful smile at him. "So speaking of your girlfriend, how are things going between you and Jin Ri? I heard from Sungmin that you've been completely whipped by her, even to the extent that you're cutting down on your gaming time," she prompted, resting her chin on her knuckle as she observed him, patiently waiting for his reaction.
As expected, Kyuhyun appeared as though he wanted to ignore the question. Jungsoo had told Huiying how the maknae wouldn't really say anything about his relationship to the others, opting only to smile as an answer, and occasionally flaunt his relationship with Jin Ri in the faces of his brothers who did not have a girlfriend in tow.
"I am so not whipped by Jin Ri, seriously. Don't listen to everything that Sungmin says. I swear he's out to get me sometimes," Kyuhyun retorted indignantly.
"I can guess why," she laughed. "You're always teasing one another at every chance you get. And Hyukjae oppa told me that your level of PDA could rival that of Jungsoo oppa and Angie unnie's," Huiying then added, looking on in amusement when his expression turned a shade paler.
"If you're wondering, I'm not even going to comment on that. Please excuse me whileI go strangle Hyukkie hyung," Kyuhyun muttered, stalking off in Hyukjae's direction with his eyes narrowed. Huiying could only laugh uncontrollably at the sight that followed. Kids would definitely be kids, alright.

Sungmin couldn't help but throw frequent glances at the opposite side of the room, where his girlfriend seemed to be engaged in a deep conversation with his group member, feeling slightly jealous of Kyuhyun. Shaking his head to dispel the envy from his mind, he sucked in a deep breath to calm himself down, telling himself that Kyuhyun had a girlfriend, and reminded himself that Huiying and Kyuhyun were friends - just like he and Huiying were before he finally confessed to her in her room that morning.
Little did he know that their little secret would be out in the open that soon; it hasn't even been a day since Huiying agreed to be his girlfriend, and his entire group already knew about it. It must've been a freaking record of sorts. Even Jongwoon was found out later than that - by several hours, but still later than him regardless.
But of course, he had the personal satisfaction of teaching that little brat - the one who exposed his relationship mere minutes after he had stumbled upon Sungmin and Huiying walking out of her room hand in hand - a lesson that he probably wouldn't forget for the rest of his life. Speaking of which, Henry was still avoiding his eyes…
"You have a pretty scary expression on your face right now, Ming. I hope you're not planning on hurting Henry again," a familiar voice disturbed his train of thoughts, causing Sungmin's head to snap up in surprise. The latter's eyes narrowed instinctively when he recognised the face, feeling a little more annoyed that he should.
"Are you sure you should be saying that, Mi? I haven't quite forgiven you yet for what you did to Huiying yesterday," he commented. "You have not apologised to her yet, either."
"Well… about that… I'm still trying to find the right words to say to her," Zhou Mi flashed a wry smile at the older man, leaning against the wall right next to Sungmin with a sigh. His eyes remained fixated on his duet partner's smiling face as she talked to Kyuhyun, wondering whether that smile of hers would disappear if he walked up to her instead.
"Are you for real, Mi? How hard is it for you to utter a simple 'sorry' for your actions yesterday? Even Hyukjae and Donghae did it already. Honestly, you need to stop skirting around the problem and just face things head on. Your manhood is on the line here," Sungmin muttered, grunting painfully when Zhou Mi landed a hit square on his chest for his comments.
"Shut up, Ming; don't bring my manhood into this. I know she's your girl now, but there's no need to be so overly protectively of her," he retorted, shooting a dark glare at the shorter man next to him.
"Yeah, says the person who would flip whenever we express our disapproval about his girlfriend," Sungmin rolled his eyes, crossing his arms in front of his chest, though taking care not to wrinkle his outfit. Their stylists might throw a fit if they had to iron his jacket again. That made Sungmin wonder why he did not just resort to hanging it up first, only to put it on right before he went on stage. It would definitely save him some trouble of having to be extremely careful with it.
"Why are you bringing Jingxi into this?" he queried, this time frowning in disapproval at Sungmin.
"I'm not; you're being overly sensitive. My words were completely referring to you," came the reply, and Zhou Mi could only slump in defeat. There was no way he was going to be able to have the last word when Sungmin was involved in the equation.
"Fine, you win," Zhou Mi sighed as Sungmin flashed a victorious smirk at him. "I'll go apologise to her soon. This whole thing is killing me."
"How soon is 'soon', Mi? You do realise that our concert starts in two hours, don't you?" Sungmin pointed out, quirking an eyebrow at the younger man. "If you intend to apologise to Ying, I certainly hope that you're planning to do so within the next few minutes. You and I both know that awkward relationships would lead to awkward performances on stage. The fans are going to find out eventually."
"I know that well enough, Ming," the other man said, shuddering at the memory of that one performance which he had done a couple of days after the first major argument between him and his duet partner. He vividly remembered about cringing at the sight of it when he watched the video of the performance once again, noticing how pissed off his face looked on screen. He had also ignored Huiying's initiatives with the fanservice countless times, and he couldn't help but wonder how the radiant smile could still remain on her face despite the cold shoulder he was giving her.
"Go; here's your chance. You better not screw up this time, or I'm seriously going to mock your manhood," Sungmin spoke up again when he noticed that Kyuhyun had finally left his girlfriend alone, pushing Zhou Mi in her direction. As much as he wanted to remain angry at the Chinese man for plotting the whole plan of dumping Huiying into the pool, he couldn't; not when his strong sense of friendship ruled over his mind. However, he duly noted that this was the only time that he would urge another man - Super Junior member or not - to approach his girlfriend with his consent.
Zhou Mi snorted disbelievingly at Sungmin, but obliged with the older man's words nonetheless. As he watched the tall man stagger towards the direction of Huiying, the pink lover tried his best to suppress the insecure feelings in his heart. It was difficult, knowing how his girlfriend would sometimes be caught staring at her duet partner in a vaguely similar way of her looking at Sungmin himself.…
