"The reason why I'm holding a press conference today is to clarify something. I am no longer in a relationship with Baek Kyoungmi-sshi," he spoke into the microphone, making sure that his words came out loud and clear. "If you're wondering about the reasons behind our actions, it's because that we finally came to realise that our feelings aren't deep enough to sustain our relationship. Rest assured; this has nothing to do with Super Junior's Ryeowook-sshi, so I beg of you to not come up with ridiculous speculations surrounding their relationship. They are both very dear friends to me."
The television flicked off the moment the man on the screen came to the end of his speech, and the house was promptly filled with active discussion once again.
"Wow, you're right, Ryeowook. He's definitely not as bad as we thought he was after all," Hyukjae commented in amazement, turning to look at the eternal maknae whom was seated on the armrest of the chair that was the nearest to the window. The younger male merely shook his head in amusement, laughing heartily.
"I honestly didn't expect that Kwangho sunbae would suddenly announce that he broke up with Kyoungmi on national television, though. I mean, it's not something that you would usually hear of, especially with such a deliberate set-up," he commented, shrugging in response.
"Ryeowook has a point; normally such information would come out as a slip of the tongue," Siwon nodded along, exchanging a high-five with Ryeowook.
"I suppose you've known about this all along, haven't you, Ryeowook?" Jongwoon joined in the conversation, shooting a questioning look at said person. He didn't seem the least bit shocked at the announcement after all. Ever since the day that Kyuhyun was discharged well from the hospital, Jongwoon had noticed a distinct change in Ryeowook's mood. The boy seemed to be so much more cheerful and upbeat as compared to before, though he refused to tell anyone the reason behind his infectious, joyous mood. Ryeowook merely wrote it off as 'having thought things through', and deemed that it would remain as a secret until he felt that he was ready to tell them.
One month had come and gone since then, yet the vocalist didn't seem as though he was getting any closer to saying anything about it anytime soon. The other members had also gotten tired of pestering him about it, deciding to just relish in the fact that Ryeowook had rediscovered his smile. It was definitely not a good experience for them to have to hang around the boy whenever he was sulking, because Ryeowook and sadness should never be associated together to begin with. He was just such a ball of sunshine before getting embroiled in the whole mess surrounding Kyoungmi and Kwangho, and seeing him being moody all the time just seemed to drag all of their moods down.
"Pretty much," Ryeowook confirmed with a cheeky grin, something he seemed to have acquired from hanging around Kyuhyun way too much these days, since the older man would frequently pay a visit to their snarky maknae in order to make up for all the times that he had missed out when he was busying himself with Kyoungmi's condition.
"Why haven't we heard about this piece of news though, Ryeowook?" Heechul grudgingly pointed out, feeling slightly offended that Ryeowook didn't even bother telling them about something that involves his happiness.
Now that he thought about it, Ryeowook had indeed been spending quite a lot of time out of the dorms, always disappearing rather early in the morning, only to return close to midnight almost every other day. In addition to that, there were certain times where Ryeowook wouldn't even be seen in the dorms at all, saying that he would be staying overnight at his parents' place instead. Little did he know that some of the boys had tried calling up Ryeowook's parents once, asking for his whereabouts, only to be met with a clueless response in return. It was definitely suspicious, and he began putting two and two together regarding the eternal maknae's questionable behaviour. Nonetheless, Heechul decided not to call Ryeowook out on the matter; he would definitely reveal it when the time is right, after all.
"You've never asked me about it, have you?" was Ryeowook's innocent reply, and before the rest of the boys could cry foul over his words, the sound of the doorbell of the dorms resonated through the house, earning all of their attentions. The eternal maknae, however, was the first one out of his seat before anyone else could even begin processing what was going on.
A string of muffled conversations came from the direction of the doorway, and Ryeowook reappeared in the living area of the dorms with someone else in tow. The boys all cheered when they realised that it was none other than Kyoungmi, whom had a radiant smile on her face. They hadn't seen her for quite a long period of time, though she evidently looked much better as compared to when she had first regained her consciousness from the accident, and like her best friend (or so they thought), was also a lot more cheerful right now. The Super Junior members concluded that probably getting out of the relationship with Kwangho gave her new-found freedom, because as Kibum and Heechul had observed previously, the young actress seemed a little suffocated with her previous relationship.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I believe that this is the first time I'm meeting you guys…" Kyoungmi started, only to be interrupted by a very confused Sungmin.
"What are you talking about, Kyoungmi? Haven't you regained all of your memories by now? This isn't the first time we're meeting," he commented, stifling a laugh. However, the perplexity returned to him - and the rest of the boys, for that matter - when Ryeowook and Kyoungmi exchanged a knowing look with each other, before chuckling in response.
"I haven't even completed my sentence yet, Sungmin oppa," she replied, only to send the boys wide-eyed when she intertwined her fingers with Ryeowook's. "Let's see... where was I? Oh yes, I believe this is the first time I'm meeting you guys as Ryeowook's girlfriend," Kyoungmi then added, causing their jaws to drop in astonishment.
When the dorm was filled with nothing but confused silence for the next minute or so, Ryeowook hesitantly scooted closer to Kyoungmi, and lightly nudged her on the shoulder. "Kyoungmi, I think this is our cue to make a run for it... They're going to go on a rampage anytime soon..." he warned her in a low voice, casting a worried look at his group members whom still seem stunned at the sudden revelation.
"I think so too, Ryeowook," Kyoungmi nodded in agreement, before pulling him out of the apartment with her when the first person moved a single muscle. They laughed heartily at the sound of the boys screaming bloody murder and chasing after them, feeling glad that they managed to get themselves safely into the comforts of the elevators just as Youngwoon's outraged face came into plain view at the lift's closing doors.
He smiled happily when she rested her head on his shoulder, sighing in content at the proximity between them. Having Kyoungmi by his side was more than anything he could've wished for, and his members' wraths... well, that could be dealt with later on.
Or so they hoped.
