Summary: Kim Heechul remains the same person, but he is also different in another way. Because Kim Heechul without his friend Hankyung, is already a different person, no matter how much the others claim that he’s still the same.
Author's Notes: Because Heechul's most recent Cyworld entry and his Tweets are making me incredibly emo. This is the result of it.
Standing at the entrance of the room that had been left empty for the past few months, he let out a depressed sigh. His slender fingers traced the outline of the bed frame slowly, bringing with it some specks of dust, even though it had just been cleaned just over the weekends.
His glazed eyes wandered lazily across the room, carefully taking in the sight in front of him. He closed his eyes for a short moment, trying to reminiscence the past, and then reopened them once again in order to make a comparison.
The furniture that decorated the room stayed exactly the same like it did for the past few years, except that it was different. Shelves were visibly empty, and even though it wasn't open, he was sure that the cabinets and wardrobes were, too.
The bed was also the same, yet different again. The familiar monochrome bedspread no longer hugged the mattress, and the soft toys given by fans were also missing. Even the same walls were different, because portraits drawn by fans no longer adorn the walls.
Heechul took a swig from his soju bottle as he closed the door, letting out another sigh in the process. Slowly but surely, he staggered towards the living room of the dorm, and let his body fall limply onto the sofa. Again, he closed his eyes in order to relive the past, if only for a while.
The sights, sounds, and smell of the dorm were still the same, yet different.
One set of laundry was missing from the balcony. That handphone charger that used to rest neatly on the side table was no longer there. The dorms also visibly lacked several pairs of shoes at the front door and fedora hats on the hat rack. That dancer who used to love to practice his dancing skills in the spacious living room was no longer there.
That dorky laughing sound was missing. No one to shout at Heechul when he was here lazing and drinking away without a care for the world, telling him not to drink too much alcohol because it would affect his health. No one conversing happily in Mandarin at the balcony with his parents who lived in a different country. No annoying person pretending that he didn't understand Korean and opted to use Chinese instead when the odds were stacked against him.
There's also an obvious lack of wonderful aroma of that Beijing Fried Rice wafting from the kitchen.
He chuckled sadly at the thoughts that were running rampantly in his head, taking yet another swig of soju. He didn't quite care if he was drunk. Maybe it would be better for him. At least he would fall asleep when he's completely drunk, and didn't have to think about how empty the dorm - and his life - was.
But yet another group of thoughts slowly crept into his head.
Super Junior was still the same old group, but evidently different as well.
The stage still had a lot of people, and yet, it still feels different.
And Kim Heechul remains the same person, but he is also different in another way. Because Kim Heechul without his friend Hankyung, is already a different person, no matter how much the others claim that he's still the same.
