Chapter 6
The Super Junior members were taking a break from their dance practice, exhausted but happy at being able to release a new single soon. The occasion was promoted by the fact that they had a new member who had joined them recently, and they were beginning to warm up to one another's presence.
Apparently, most of the members noticed that their leader's back was posing yet another problem for him, as it was unable to bear the excessive strain being placed on it from the strenuous dance routine. Hence, they all huddled together to come up with a plan to keep him in place, while Heechul, Yesung and Kyuhyun kept Leeteuk occupied by talking to him. They knew that when their hyung starts talking, it would take quite some time before he would stop, and that worked to their advantage.
However, the boys were too preoccupied with discussing their plans, to the extent that they failed to notice the door of the dance studio opening slightly, before a girl invited herself into the room, curiously taking in the surroundings. When she noticed the large group congregated in the middle, she happily walked towards them, and greeted them brightly. Her cheerful expression fell slightly when no one answered her, but decided that her voice was too soft to be heard over all the bickering they were currently engrossed in. She tip-toed and looked over all their shoulders, trying in vain to search for the person which she came here for.
When she was tired of trying to figure out what the eleven boys were up to, she finally spoke up, making sure to project her voice louder than before. "Hey, what are you guys doing?"
The eleven boys jumped at the sound and separated from one another immediately, guilty expressions adorning their faces as if they had just been caught doing something that they shouldn't. They were pleasantly surprised to see a certain Baek Kyoungmi looking back at them with her head tilted to the side, blinking curiously with a small pout on her face.
"Kyoungmi-sshi, if you don't wipe that pout off your face, I'm going to pinch your cheeks," Heechul chided playfully, hands raised threateningly. She immediately replaced it with a wide grin and a respectful bow.
"Annyeonghaseyo Heechul-sunbaenim, Kibum-sunbaenim," Kyoungmi greeted. Nine pairs of eyes widened and shot towards Heechul and Kibum's direction, exclaiming the same word at the same time. "SUNBAE?"
"What?" Heechul raised an eyebrow at the rest of his group members, but when he realised why they were so surprised, he narrowed his eyes at them. "Even though Super Junior debuted later than Kyoungmi-sshi, Kibum and I did debut as an actor first, you know," he scoffed indignantly. A uniform 'oh' followed.
"But why is she more famous than you are as an actor, Heechul hyung? Is it because she's more talented?" Kangin commented smugly, before running halfway across the room away from Heechul's reach when the older male suddenly lunged at him. The older male couldn't get very far, because he was restrained by both Siwon and Hankyung.
"YAH you brat! Do you have a death wish?" Heechul hollered at him, earning a muffled laugh from the rest of the members.
"Anyway, Kyoungmi-sshi, what brings you to our practice room today? You don't usually show up around the main building," Kibum asked his hoobae, trying to pull her attention away from the sight of his hyungs who don't act their age.
Kyoungmi's eyes widened when she remembered what she was here for before she was distracted by all the commotion happening in the dance studio, and turned instinctively towards the person she wanted to see. "Ah, I'm here to look for Ryeowook oppa…" she said, flashing a grin, oblivious of the effects of her words. The tone of the boys turned suggestive when the eternal maknae's name was mentioned, along with the term 'oppa', and he blushed when they all shot him a smug look.
"He's all yours, Kyoungmi-sshi," Sungmin grinned and gently pushed Ryeowook towards her, causing the younger male to shoot him a dark look at his betrayal.
"Just don't take too long! He still has to practice the routines soon," Leeteuk chimed in from his position on the floor beside Kyuhyun, and Ryeowook almost slumped to the floor when the other boys laughed at their leader's words, embarrassed to no ends by all their blatant teasing. Nonetheless, he regained his composure soon after Kyoungmi disappeared through the doors, and shot another glare at his group members before following after her.
Once the door closed behind the pair, the Super Junior members started snickering uncontrollably, minds thinking about the exact same thing even though no one had said anything at all. They threw knowing glances at one another, a smirk gracing their lips.
"There's definitely something going on between the both of them," Kangin said, hands rubbing together in glee. "Wanna make a bet?"
"I agree," several boys concluded together, only to earn a cackle from Leeteuk. They all looked at him suspiciously, wondering if their leader knew something about the entire matter between Ryeowook and Kyoungmi.
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," Leeteuk grinned, and the Super Junior members suddenly decided that they do not want to bet on anything after all. If their past experiences are anything to go by, whatever Leeteuk says about the other members have an immense amount of truth behind it. He wasn't their 'umma' for nothing, after all.

Ryeowook inhaled the fresh after-rain air deeply upon reaching the roof of the SME building, feeling oddly at ease. He concluded that the air had somewhat of a calming effect on him, and it was a great welcome after spending most of his day in the dance studio practicing the routines for their comeback single. Being in a room, surrounded by twelve other sweaty males - thirteen if the choreographer was also taken into consideration - wasn't exactly an ideal situation to be in after all.
When he was sure that he was completely relaxed, he glanced sideways at the girl in a white dress standing next to him. Her face had a soft glow to it as she admired the hustle and bustle of the city below them, probably thinking about something because she had a small smile playing on her glossy lips. Ryeowook cleared his throat softly when he caught himself unknowingly staring at her, a light shade of pink appearing on his cheeks.
"Kyoungmi ah, is there something that you wanted to talk to me about?" he asked, finally finding his voice after several more moments of comfortable silence. After spending so much time with her for the past few months, they have become rather close friends who would tell one another almost everything, despite being of different genders. There was a certain charm in Kyoungmi that lured Ryeowook towards her, and he felt at ease whenever he was around her, although he had some difficulties in overcoming his shyness around girls in the beginning.
This time, he could tell that she had something rather important to share with him - something that couldn't be discussed over the phone or through e-mails. Various possibilities started to run through his mind, as he slowly narrowed them down.
"Oppa, do you have someone that you love right now?" Kyoungmi suddenly asked, flashing a smile which disarmed Ryeowook completely. His eyes widened at her question, and turned away immediately when he could feel his cheeks turning another deeper shade of red. All the nervousness that he had initially dispelled slowly crept back towards him, considering the fact that the person he thinks he loves was standing right there with him. Not that he was going to tell her right now. Not yet.
"Oppa?" she prompted again when silence was all that came from Ryeowook.
"Eh… I'm not quite sure about that, Kyoungmi…" he replied as he slowly turned towards her, though his eyes never quite met her gaze. "I mean, there's this one girl that makes me feel extremely nervous around her, but whenever I see her, my day would be that much better… But I don't know how I exactly feel about her," Ryeowook continued, scratching the side of his face lightly in embarrassment.
"Hmmm…" she hummed noncommitantly at his answer, before turning her attention on the vast sky above them. "I believe that's love, oppa," she giggled softly, making his heart flutter at the melodious sound of her laughter.
"You think so?" he mused. "How about you, Kyoungmi? Do you have someone that you love?"
Ryeowook regretted it the moment the words left his mouth, because Kyoungmi gave a decisive nod, which was accompanied by a dreamy smile. Even though a part of him wanted to think that the person in question was him, since they had spent so much time together; the other part of him just kept feeding negative thoughts. Ryeowook mentally cursed himself for asking the question, because it was definitely something he didn't really want to know.
But he just couldn't help himself from asking just one more question. "Are you going to tell me who that person is?" he tried his luck, forcing a smile on his face although it greatly contrasted with the inner battles taking place within his mind.
"I'll only tell you if you decide to tell me which girl you're interested," she beamed, and Ryeowook's shoulders slumped in defeat. Of course, it was only fair for them to exchange the information.
"I can't tell you now, Kyoungmi… I'm not even sure about it myself, remember?" he rapped her head lightly, earning an adorable pout from the girl, who was now rubbing the throbbing spot continuously, not really noticing that she was messing up her hair.
"I'll cut you some slack this time, oppa," she grinned, and Ryeowook brightened up a little at the prospect that she might really reveal the identity of the person she likes, only to be disappointed seconds later when she added a condition to her words. "But for that, you'll have to come for the press conference of my upcoming drama next Wednesday. Do you have any schedules on that day?"
Ryeowook mentally ran through his schedules for the whole of next week, trying to remember whether he had anything set for that day, before he gave Kyoungmi a bright smile. "I think I might just be able to make it, provided that nothing crops up at the last minute," he replied.
"That's great! I'll be looking forward to it!" she cheered, but gasped the next moment when something clicked in her mind. "Oh! I think I took you away from your practice for far too long… you better go back before your hyungs and manager reprimands you for slacking off…" she grinned guiltily, gently shoving him towards the direction of the door. Amused chuckles erupted from the both of them as they joked around on the way down, although Ryeowook was still busy thinking about the possible identity of this person that Kyoungmi might have feelings for.
