Chapter 26

Hyeonmin's sleepy face greeted Kyuhyun the moment she opened the door, though her eyes suddenly flew wide open when she realised who was standing outside. Panicking at the thought that he had seen her in such a disheveled state, Hyeonmin immediately moved to shut the door in his face. "No! Not now! Come back in an hour when I'm done washing up!" she pleaded, but he managed to stop the door from closing just in time. Seeing that there was nothing that could change the mind of her stubborn guest, Hyeonmin quickly turned around to avoid his eyes.

Kyuhyun chuckled as he let himself into the house, looking on with an amused expression while Hyeonmin made a mad dash for the bathroom and slammed the door shut. When the sound of flowing water reached Kyuhyun's ears, he gave a slight shrug and made himself comfortable on the couch, deciding to take a short nap while he waited for the owner of the apartment to be done with whatever she intends to do.

After what seemed like hours later, Kyuhyun stirred in his position when something soft started prodding at his forehead, but he didn't open his eyes immediately. Grunting, he turned over so that his face was covered, and pretended that he was still asleep. However, in reality, there was a smirk playing on his lips as he waited patiently for the next wave of attacks to rain on him. The moment a finger landed on his side, Kyuhyun rapidly grabbed hold of the attacker's wrist, and smiled smugly at Hyeonmin.

"Gotcha," he smirked and wagged a finger at her. "You can't get away with things like that, Hyeonmin."

"Yah, let me go!" she giggled, trying futilely to pull away from his grasp. When he didn't comply with her request, she tried to tug harder in order to free herself, only to miss her footing and fall backwards. Kyuhyun was quick to notice it, and immediately pulled her towards him before she could even land on the floor. However, he nearly had the wind knocked out of him when Hyeonmin fell on him instead, because her elbow dug deep into his abdomen, and he groaned in pain at the impact.

Moments later, Hyeonmin finally regained her composure, and started to mouth her thanks to Kyuhyun, only to find her own lips barely inches away from the latter's. She turned scarlet when the sensation of Kyuhyun's breath ghosting over her skin registered in her senses, and she even had half the mind to close the distance between them. Not to mention that Kyuhyun's intense gaze was burning into her, eyes darting between her lips then back to her eyes. She reluctantly pulled away and straightened herself, turning around to look at everything else but at him. The atmosphere around them turned completely awkward all of a sudden, as neither of them knew what to say.

"So… why are you here again?" Hyeonmin asked meekly once she decided that the silence was getting a little too unnerving for comfort. She felt the contours of the sofa changing under her, figuring that her neighbor might have decided to sit up.

"You're dateless today as usual, right?" he asked - and even though she wasn't looking at his face - the smirk was evident in his tone, all the after-effects (if he was even remotely affected) of the incident that happened earlier gone without a trace. She shot around immediately and was about to cook up a retort, but before she could even get past the word "You-", Kyuhyun had already pushed the finger that she had raised threateningly at him down, and interrupted her sentence.

"Tsk, you should really be more patient, Hyeonmin. I haven't even finished telling you what I wanted to say yet," he shook his head melancholically, and Hyeonmin rolled her eyes at his dramatic act.

"Then stop stalling and get straight to the point, Sung Sikyu," she snapped, not really in the mood to play games with him.

"What I'm trying to say is that I'm going to grace you with the opportunity to have a date for once on a Saturday, with yours truly," he said nonchalantly. Hyeonmin stared at him incredulously at his shameless remark, though she was secretly trying to repress the smile that threatened to blow her cover. Having Sung Sikyu ask her out on a date - regardless of the manner he uses to bring up the question - was something that she had been looking forward to, even though she knew that it was probably only her one-sided love for him that's doing all the talking. But still.

"I'll think about it…" she replied noncommittally, struggling hard to keep a straight face.

"Oh, I forgot to add this - the offer only stands if you agree in the next five seconds," he suddenly said, causing her to answer 'yes' without missing a beat. She let out a sound that was a cross between a groan and a whimper when her neighbor stood up and did a small victory dance with that infuriating smirk on his face, mentally cursing herself for falling into his trap so easily. However, there was another thought that managed to creep into her mind - his victory dance reminded her of Cho Kyuhyun's - but she shrugged it off, telling herself that she was probably thinking too much about it.

Hyeonmin caught herself looking oddly at the figure standing next to her for the umpteenth time that day, wondering what on earth had gotten into him because he was completely wrapped up tightly in the middle of summer. Just as they were about to leave for their current destination earlier, Sikyu had asked her to wait for a short moment, before running back into his apartment and grabbed a hat, shades, and scarf, before putting everything on him. Now he looked as if he was dressed for winter.

"When will you enlighten me with the reason why you're dressed like that, Sikyu?" she asked, trying her best to not burst out laughing.

"Trying not to attract other people's curious stares when they see my face," he replied while still focusing his attention at the traffic light, causing Hyeonmin to raise an eyebrow at him. Judging by the number of glances that the passer-bys are casting at them, his outfit was doing everything but preventing people from talking in hushed voices while shooting a weird look at the pair.

"Just take it off, Kyu. Aren't you supposed to be used to people saying that you look like Cho Kyuhyun by now?" she sighed, reaching for the scarf and unwrapped it from around his neck, before returning it to him. She was pretty amazed that he hadn't fainted from heat-stroke yet, because the weather was sweltering at the moment.

"Hmm, I guess you're right," he said, shrugging.

"Who are you and what have you done with the real Sung Sikyu?" Hyeonmin asked out of the blue, baffled that his remark came off as… too normal; though he chose to only smirk at her without giving her any form of appropriate verbal response. She was used to the snarky but endearing side of him, and this was just plain weird. However, the next moment she knew, Hyeonmin had a blush on her face while her mind went completely blank, because a certain Sung Sikyu suddenly decided to lace his fingers with hers to lead her across the road.

Kyuhyun looked at her expressionless face in amusement when she remained rooted in her spot outside the main entrance of the building, obviously shocked to no ends at his action. "Are you coming with me, or are you just gonna remain standing right there and attempt to mask yourself as a scarecrow?" he chuckled, and Hyeonmin immediately snapped out of her trance-like state, narrowing her eyes at him. But before she could say anything, he had already reeled away from her, causing her to run after him, still wondering what on earth he was planning to do.

Nonetheless, it all became clear the moment he pushed through the wooden doors of a particular room, and she was greeted with the sight of all twelve Super Junior members grinning widely at them.

"Ah, Sikyu-sshi, you're finally here! And hello to you too, Hyeonmin-sshi," a cheerful Leeteuk greeted them briefly, before returning his attention to the phone in his hands, furiously typing away. Kyuhyun wanted to laugh at the sight and to aim a snarky remark at how obsessed he still was with his wife, but held his tongue because he technically wasn't supposed to know about their private lives. He was glad that his other hyungs came forward to greet them as well, so that his mind could be taken off the matter; it was hard to keep in those comments that he wanted to use to annoy his hyungs, after all.

"Hello, hyung-deul. It's nice to see you again. Thank you so much for taking care of me the other time," he took the chance to bow thankfully at them.

"Ani, it's okay," Siwon said, flashing the wide grin which earned him the nickname 'Joker' from his members, and the other members agreed silently with him.

Kyuhyun looked to his right when he felt someone tugging at the sleeve of his shirt, only to find Hyeonmin's questioning eyes looking at him. "What's the meaning of this, Sikyu?" she hissed, a little intimidated at the fact that her idols were currently standing in front of her at this close a range.

"Your belated birthday gift," he shrugged. "But don't get too conceited - I'm just doing this to help you fulfill your fangirl fantasies," Kyuhyun added smugly, earning a small punch to the back of his arm from Hyeonmin for his comment. When she felt a blush creeping up her cheeks, she immediately hid behind Kyuhyun to shield her face from view.

"Don't listen to him, Hyeonmin-sshi. We were the ones who invited him here, and asked him to bring you along as well after hearing that you're our fan," Eunhyuk said, bringing Kyuhyun into a headlock and ruffled his hair playfully. The younger male laughed heartily as he struggled to get out of Eunhyuk's grip, yelling some incomprehensible words from time to time. The rest of the members also started guffawing at the scene, and for a split second, Hyeonmin felt like she was watching the old, complete Super Junior having fun in front of her very own eyes. The thought of it was surreal as it is.

"Hyeonmin-sshi, are you alright?" Ryeowook walked over and asked her, causing her to jump a little at the suddenness. "I'm sorry, did I scare you?" he asked again, a look of concern gracing his face

"Ne… I'm fine, thank you for your concern, Ryeowook-sshi," she bowed slightly, flashing an awkward smile at him. . Even though she knew that he was older than she was and married, she still couldn't help but to have the urge to pinch his cheeks from the massive cuteness he was exuding. 'Eternal maknae' is definitely a befitting nickname for him, she thought.

At that moment, the sound of Kyuhyun shouting caught both of their attentions, and they turned towards the source of the sound in time to see Sungmin and Leeteuk dragging him out of the dance studio. Both men showed the rest of their members a peace sign and flashed a cheeky grin, before disappearing through the door. It seems that the Super Junior members immediately understood the message, because those who remained in the studio started grinning at a non-existent joke.

"Um, am I missing something here, Ryeowook-sshi?" Hyeonmin found herself asking, not really getting what the whole commotion was about, or where the leader and the pink prince were bringing Kyuhyun to. Ryeowook only gave a small laugh, before answering simply - interrogation.
