Chapter 05
Hankyung was cruising along the highways of Seoul at top speed in his black Porsche Boxster S, as he ran through the options in his head. While a part of him kept telling himself that what he was going to do won't be wise, nor would it be tolerated by his employer, he couldn't help it. Not when he was about to kill someone, just because she wouldn't allow Heechul to take over her company that she had inherited from her father. That would just go against his principles of life.
For all he knew, he was currently trampling all over the code of conduct for assassins - if it even exists - by potentially going against his employer's orders and for having such a soft spot, as evidenced by how he took Kyuhyun in. Live and let live… the phrase usually never gets tied down with hired assassins, because it is viewed as a weakness that might end up getting them killed. But frankly, Hankyung could care less at the moment.
His thoughts were divided when his handphone vibrated on the dashboard, and Hankyung picked it up only to find that there was a message from Kyuhyun. He didn't even have to guess that his adopted brother had successfully found what he had asked the younger male to do - he always knew that he could count on Kyuhyun to help him out. After opening the message, Hankyung keyed the address into the GPS device, and allowed the satellites above to do their job.
If there was one thing he could do now apart from keeping his hands on the steering wheel, it was to hope for the fact that Heechul hasn't caught on to his intentions.

Kibum yawned widely as he shifted around in order to find a more comfortable position on his seat, stretching the muscles of his back which were starting to ache after being immobilized for far too long. He honestly wasn't really sure as to why he was currently camping outside Hong Minjoo's house in his car, but somehow, he had a gut feeling that Hankyung might turn up here. He just wasn't sure when.
Great, now I'm an assassin who relies on his gut feelings more than his killer instincts, he scoffed at the irony of it. However, it was rather impossible for Kibum to keep watch on the assassin that his employer had hired to kill off the current president of the Hong Enterprise outside his apartment complex. Not when the latter would probably be on the lookout for Kibum's whereabouts after their slight confrontation at Hankyung's apartment.
Even though Heechul didn't say it outright, Kibum knew that Hankyung was one of his prized assassins, considering how the former almost never fails to put the latter on the jobs that were of utmost importance. Needless to say, Hankyung also had a fat paycheck to pocket every time he successfully completes a job; which, by the way, always happens. That was precisely why Heechul ordered Kibum to only eliminate Hankyung if he tries anything funny; the emphasis wasn't quite clear-cut, but Kibum knew better.
Another yawn was just about to escape Kibum's mouth again, when a black sports car pulled up in front of the gates of Hong Minjoo's residence. He was suddenly wide awake, straightening himself in the seat as he narrowed his eyes, trying to discern the identity of the owner of the car in the dark. And when a familiar face alighted from the car, Kibum immediately exited his own. He quietly slipped next to a tall tree that was situated near the gates, fingers poised over the trigger of his gun while he tried to listen in on the possible conversation that might take place.

Hankyung took a short moment to survey the surroundings of Minjoo's residence, and judging by those fierce barking sounds coming from within, it wouldn't be wise for him to try and sneak it. He couldn't even see the interior of the place, considering the fact that the walls were built rather high up. Resigning to the final option, Hankyung straightened his clothes and approached the intercom device installed next to the gate.
"Good evening, I'm sorry to bother you at this hour, but may I please see Miss Hong for a short moment? I have important things to discuss with her," Hankyung spoke directly into the receiver, trying to sound as corporate-like as he could.
The device crackled for a short moment, before someone - probably her butler - replied. "Miss Hong would like to know who this is, sir."
"I'm Mr. Han. I believe she would recall about my visit to her office earlier today?"
"Ah, yes, indeed she does. Would you like to come in and have a sit, sir?" the person on the other side of the line spoke again after a moment silence, presumably relaying the information to his employer.
Hankyung considered the situation for a short moment, before he answered the man. "No, it's fine. Is it possible for Miss Hong to speak to me outside?"
"Yes, she will meet you in a couple of minutes," came the reply, and thus the tense wait began. Hankyung turned around to face the streets, casting cautious glances everywhere even though nothing much could be seen in the dark. That was when the sight of another car parked further down the street registered in his senses for the first time since arriving, and Hankyung's muscles tensed up almost immediately. There were no other houses in the area, save for his target's, and the appearance of another car would probably mean trouble. And Hankyung had a hunch that a certain Kim Kibum might be lurking around. He was about to scour the area, but the only action he managed to carry out was rest his hand on the hilt of his gun, before the gates of Hong Minjoo's residence creaked open.
"Good evening, Mr. Han. What a surprise to see you here," she greeted curtly. "But may I know how did you gain access to my residential address?"
Hankyung blushed a little when he noticed that Minjoo was only clad in her sleepwear, and cleared his throat softly, before putting on a serious face once again. "There's no time to explain it right now," he said, voice low but urgent. "You might not believe me, but you really need to leave this place immediately."
Hankyung's words effectively caused Minjoo to turn blank and confused. "Huh? What is this all about?" she started, but couldn't ask anything else because the Chinese man suddenly grabbed hold of her wrist and pulled her towards his car. He opened the door of the passenger and almost roughly shoved her into the car, before strapping her up.
"Please, just trust me this time," he hissed when she struggled to get the seatbelt off of her. However, the sound of a gunshot which came from ahead caused Minjoo to scream in fear when the bullet skimmed off the top of the side mirror, bringing the paint with it. Hankyung cursed colourfully as he pulled his own gun out and attempted to locate the person who fired the shot, only to find Kibum leaning against the tree with a smug smile on his face.
"Going somewhere with the target, Hankyung?" he drawled lazily, checking the muzzle of his gun disinterestedly. The air was heavy from all the tension, but was overall rather silent save for the labored breathing coming from Minjoo and Hankyung. Hankyung could also hear the blood pounding against his ears, courtesy of the adrenaline that had started to circulate in his bloodstream.
"Well, wouldn't you like to know?" the other man smiled back, as he cocked his gun in case he had to use it. Hankyung slowly but surely inched towards the driver's seat, eyeing Kibum cautiously as he did so. He knew that Kibum had missed his previous shot on purpose - sometimes assassins just liked to warn their opponents of their presence; it was no fun if you killed the person without them knowing your identity after all. However, now that Kibum announced his presence, the next shot will definitely find its intended target. There was no doubt about it.
The sound of shoes clicking against the paved road reverberated through the cold air, shattering the tense silence of the night, as Kibum started walking towards Hankyung. "You know what? You're actually on the way to the top of Heechul-nim's list of favourites. I know with full certainty that it's not an easy feat to accomplish… so are you really sure you wouldn't want to rethink your decision?" he smiled, though it had a dangerous edge to it.
"I have no desire to get onto that list of his, if you must know," Hankyung scoffed.
"Hmm, fair enough. But you're destroying your credentials as well. Whatever happened to 'I will carry out the job as ordered', Hankyung-sshi?" Kibum mused. Even though the movement was small, Hankyung noticed that Kibum's index finger assumed its position at the trigger.
"I changed my mind," Hankyung smiled and quickly aimed a shot in Kibum's direction, whom avoided it skillfully. The former used the moment of distraction to dash towards the driver's seat, but before he could safely get into the car, Kibum managed to compose himself and managed to fire a shot at Hankyung as well. However, since Hankyung briefly had his back turned, he wasn't able to avoid the incoming projectile, which grazed past his left arm and stamped its mark with a laceration wound.
Hankyung groaned in pain from the heat, but couldn't really be bothered by it right now. He had a more important goal in mind: to get out of the place as fast as possible. He fluidly slipped into his seat, revved the engine, and stepped on the gas paddle. The sound of tires screeching against the pavement resonated through the air as the car jumped to its maximum speed within several seconds, and Kibum jumped out of the way when Hankyung steered the car in his direction just to throw him off.
Kibum cursed when the car went out of sight, but hurriedly dashed towards his own vehicle in order to give chase. He didn't get himself a sports car for nothing, either.{C}{C}

A/N: Just a slight note - the story actually happens within the span of 3-4 days ;) Hankyung's meeting with Minjoo, him infiltrating the company at night, and then "kidnapping" Minjoo from her house are all events within a day.
P/S: This is Hankyung's car XD -->
