I was thinking about a re-imagining of the mini-series, how things would change if Nate was a woman. The aftermath of Trombley's shootings, the bridge, the hole, the trust speech, confronting Griego, her relationship with command and the men... How Brad reacts to her. The eye-fucking doesn't really change, but Ray's Daddy/Mommy jokes may have a slightly different edge. When Nate struggles with the desire to shield Brad from command's fuckery. When Brad wants to stand up for her, it's not some macho, overprotective bullshit. He cares about and trusts in his LT; Nate's earned all the respect he gives her.

It's just, their friendship is underscored by this want that both police carefully. The really greedy side of me wants to see it all: first meeting; taking each other's measure during training drills; going

I think you should go for it! Obviously, I'm a little biased, since I was hoping that someone would write it, but this really is the type of AU scenario that can be handled a million ways. You can never have too many college AUs and you certainly cannot have too many genderswitch, especially Girl!Nate. Please, jump on in!

whatever you want to do. I'd love for Brad & Nate to be together in the end and to see evidence of Nate's friendship with Mike throughout the story. Reading Brad's reaction to Nate in the line of fire during the bridge ambush is a personal fav, but by no means a necessity. Please, write whatever strikes your fancy.
