Nov 05, 2008 16:32

So yesterday, November 4th, 2008, was the presidential election here in the USA. The excitement and pressure of this election has been building for a little under two whole years and things have been feverish for several months now. There have been a lot of hurt feelings and attacking from both the Republican and Democratic parties, and I'm ( Read more... )

Woohoo!!!

I'm glad Obama won. I didn't overly like that McCain guy. For some reason I just kept picturing McCain's, and hearing the "Ah McCain's, we've done it again" from their ad. LOL.

At least Obama seems pretty hip and a cool president. Not some fuddy duddy.

I'm a registered Independent so I'm exactly the voter they were battling for. McCain, to me, lost it when he picked Palin. The first major decision McCain and Obama had was to pick a running partner, and I just can't take Palin seriously. At all. Ever. There's a reason SNL is making waves parodying Palin- It's too damn easy. They tried to parody Obama one time but it didn't work because, I believe, Obama is isn't a stooge among jesters, he's an icon among ideals. He speaks like we all want our leaders to speak.

Best of all, I think it's time for the Dems to run things. The Clinton years were gorgeous. Bush smoked that. Dems are up to bat and it's a beautiful, sunny day.

Wow, lots of symbolism there!

I'm lookin' forward to the pure awesomeness. Here in the US, we currently have a two party system (Mainly because the other parties are tiny and never get any attention). We've got the Democrats, which are typically liberal and progressive. The Republicans are conservative and like to start wars. The third largest chunk of registered voters in America are Independents, which I don't believe is a real party, but literally independent people who didn't want to affiliate with any party. Myself included.

Bring on the awesomeness!

McGruff the Crime Dog? Chuck Norris?

For real?

Kind of funny until you think about it... the voting process is a fundamental right of our country and one that many people have died trying to preserve. Not really something to mock.

But still. If you are going to mock, I suppose those are two of the funnier ridiculous write-ins that you could choose. By the way - have you seen the thought-a-day Chuck Norris calendar?

Yessir. McGruff the Crime Dog was an actual write-in for Sheriff on one of the thousands of ballots we physically went through by hand. And that was just our one table! There were 20+ other tables, all with unique write-ins, probably ( ... )

There are so many great ones. Mostly inspired from the website http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/ .

A couple of my favorite from the front page of the website...
*When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
*# Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.
*# Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits.
*Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise.

And my favorite from the front page...
*# Chuck Norris is so fast, he can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.

Hahahaha yea I've heard of some of those. "Chuck Norris' tears are said to cure cancer, but we'll never know because he never cries." Love it.
