The Last "On The Lot" Entry?

Mar 27, 2007 02:32

At this moment, I'm pretty sure I wasn't picked for a first round interview in the On The Lot reality TV show. The forums on the official website have become rumor-central since the show's producers are being silent on what's happening. Every so often, news does get out and is dissected. Of the twelve-thousand applicants, only two-hundred worldwide ( Read more... )

If they're choosing people who are already professionals then that completely sucks. I thought it was all about finding new talent. Not using someone who's already done stuff. How rude and misleading that was.

It's going to be on TV in May here in Oz. I wanted to see my rabbit on it. :(

While I can understand why they want seasoned professionals on the show, I agree that it still wasn't fair to invite novices like myself to apply if they never intended to interview us. But at the same time, I have to admit that not just anyone should get to be on the show anyway. It can't be like American Idol where anyone can be a contestant because filmmaking takes more time than it does to sing a pop song off-key. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that filmmaking is harder than singing and writing music combined. Not everyone can attempt it (Even for laughs like joke contestants on Idol) because it takes so much effort and raw time- It's not a talent you can simply show off in 3 minutes in front of a panel of judges ( ... )

That's messed up. I'm really sorry that this happened, Adam. It's truly their loss. I agree with lil_twitty_1 that if they just wanted to hire professionals, then why keep it open for new talent? That's misleading. I think you hit the nail on the head as to what they're really doing with the show and I admire your attitude about the whole thing. You've learned a lot from this experience. I'm glad you don't see this as a waste and that you enjoyed filming "Those Abondoned." Keep filming--you have your fans here who encourage you and appreciate your talent. :)

Welp, my thinking is that they had it open to everyone so they could get a wide following of viewership and also to spread word of mouth. For example, if it weren't for me telling all my relatives that I might be on the show, most of them would never have heard of On The Lot. So even I was a pawn. I'm still not disappointed because, if they're not going after fresh talent, the show paints itself as purely commercial. No need to be a part of that.
