So today at work wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in terms of being ridiculed for my attendance Friday night at the bar. The whole office knows but no one really said much. Sarah and the other Val (Not my sister but the other Val who came with us Friday) did tease me a bit but everyone who did say something was more happy for me than anything ( Read more... )

I agree that pre-judging is "egotistical and wrong", but what you are doing is hardly pre-judging. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that what you are doing, in evaluating the situation, is very wise... far from egotistical, and further from wrong. Whatever title you choose to apply to it, you're just trying to sort things out. I'm a little tired, so my words might not come out as clearly as I'd like them to right now --- perhaps the words of a great philosopher will help you see that you are doing nothing wrong:

"Wise men say only fools rush in"

Ahhhhh. Well, as I was writing it, I proofread it like three times and realized that this pro-con thing sounded kind of... It made me feel guilty and high-and-mighty. It's trivial. But deep down, in the pit of my soul, I almost wish something would spark between her and I. It would be fun to date someone, and who knows, it could turn into something. Positive thinking at its best!

In a word, yes. When my parents were the age I am now, they had already married, settled down and had my sister. I don't like to say that I'm missing out or that I need to catch up, but I should start something, know what I mean?
