Can any of you tell me what the frell this thing is mostly meant for? It's from my great-grandaunt (so probably from v. early 20th century) and I'm guessing it's a manicure tool as it was in a box with manicure implements and stuff--but I'd love to know if it has other uses. Some weird relative once gave me a manicure set with things like that in there. Cuticle tool or something? Manicure stuff scares me.

Scares me too. Cuticle-cutting is ugh, squicky to me at least. I just bite my nails and that's fine enough for me.

It's an incredibly versatile tool, I've found. I've used my antique one as a letter opener, art tool, general scraping/scooping tool, as well as the spot removal thing. It's really handy. I don't know what I'd do without it. It's definitely one of my Favourite Things To Save If My House Was Set On Fire.

Dude, you're channeling Leela! I approve.

But really, yeah, I've used it to cut and stab stuff--well, mostly spots--why the hell should I get spots when I'm 26 already?! GRAH... but it's a really versatile tool since I don't care that much for cosmetics.
