So guess whose phone just died? And even getting a refurbished one (even if the phone is 3 years old--an iPhone 5S) is going to cost me at least 370 e

Sorry if this is a stupid or insensitive question, but why does it have to be an iPhone when you can get a fantastic new Samsung for half the price or less? I'm not trying to be snarky, I honestly don't know what is so great about iPhones that it warrants paying so much for the little apple picture on the back.
It's not stupid or insensitive but more of an unexpected question from you, as I think I explained it to you in detail at the Amma event! I even remembered you mentioned that same "I don't want to pay so much just for a little apple picture on the back" thing to me, which is very sensible.
But ok, I'm actually glad you asked, since this thing is worth clarifying in case people think I'm just trying to go after a brand, which it isn't--I've *always* been a Mac/Apple *hater* from the bottom of my bones.
But the thing is, iPhones allow you to send free texts and have free video calls through iMessage and FaceTime to friends all over the world, if they, too, have iPhones. And two of my best friends, both of whom live abroad and with whom I often have lengthy text/video chats via phone, have iPhones. It was versaphile who first sent me her old iPod Touch so I could chat with her live, so that got me stuck on Apple devices. And then there's the fact that iMessage and Facetime are way better and more reliable and crash less than WhatsApp or Skype

You did? Really? It must have been wiped by other things that were going on at the time, because I don't remember the conversation at all! I'm sorry that you had to do it twice. Blame my leaky memory.
I wonder if (used) iPhones are cheaper abroad. Probably, since everything else is...
It's all right. We must've both been pretty exhausted and bewildered there. I look forward to your second visit as now you know how the whole thing works and you're used to all the pushing and shoving (and the occasional need for even someone like me in the disabled queue to do some elbowing) and can concentrate on the actual huggles better:3. I should probably already start gathering up funds for my Amma tat budget :P
I looked on eBay and basically, they look to cost about the same as the one I could get from Gigantti. *If* the buggers even have those available. Saunalahti is only selling cheap-ass 16 GB ones but I need more memory for all my photos and ebooks and the occasional videos (it's funny but I don't hoard music or podcasts on mine, as I expect most people do. I just have some Lana and a couple of spiritual playlists of mostly Hindu stuff). I even saw someone from my own postcode on Huutonet selling my exact model (only in white) for a bit over a hundred euros, but I'm a bit iffy about buying it without seeing it myself.
