Wow, and I thought this was better than part 1! AND I HAVE NEWS. I ACTUALLY LIKED LOKI IN THIS ONE. Yup, I thought he was awesome.

But then I totally fell for the betrayal bit. Maybe that makes me dumb. I didn't notice the way Odin was sitting, either - so all that came totally out of the left field and left me reeling like whoa (in a good way). Clearly I don't have a Lokidar... or was too distracted by unsubtle characters who solve problems by punching them harder. <3

Agreed about Aether possession looking damn erotic, and about crying during the funeral scene. WHY DID YOU KILL FRIGGA, WHY.

Also agreed about the oozing slash.

You'll notice I haven't said much about Thor yet. This is because I need to go do laundry right now because I'm out of underwear.

It's so weird because I felt detached because there wasn't as much character stuff. So that was a disappointment in my book because that's why I loved the first one so much for. I mean, even if I'd been a Thor fangirl I would've wanted more of the same sort of character stuff he got in the first movie! But at least he got to kick a lot of arse and provided tons of eyecandy moments--I kept thinking of you all the time and grumbling jealously;). His hair and eyes looked gorgeous, even though I'm always suspecting CGI these days when it comes to eye colour, sadly. And I liked Loki less in this one because there was less emotional context to his angst--I would've wanted to see him suffer more... slowly because of Frigga, I suppose, but fuck, the cut foot was ouchy in more ways than one. IDK, the mood was just too different to grab me the same way the first one did. And the first one was like tailor made for What Grouse Wants From A Movie. So I didn't really expect them to pull the same trick off twice, really ( ... )

The Captain America bit was HILARIOUS and I felt so vindicated after that dumb, dumb line in Avengers that went unchallenged by the scriptwriter (or anyone else) - the "there's only one true God and He doesn't dress like that" line. Okay, so it's in character for Captain America, but I don't like that the script doesn't challenge his notion in any way. If the Aesir are not gods but superheroes in this universe, I'm totally fine with that, but then YHWH better not get preferential treatment. He should be "only" a superhero too! Otherwise it makes no sense and is just the writer's Christian privilege, or pandering to WASP American audiences, stinking to high heaven.

It's true there was a lot of Thor eyecandy! Almost too much... the shirtless scene was totally gratuitous. It added absolutely nothing to the movie except eyecandy. (But they could have focused on him washing his hands for two hours and I would have sat there with a stupid grin on my face and not complained.)

Why, yes, I have a Chris Hemsworth problem.

IDK, I thought they kind of did challenge it in the Avengers with what they implied? Because now he had Thor and Loki to deal with? I forget. But I remember it bugged me too.

I guess I got some gratuitous prettily suffering Loki, but I would've wanted more gratuitous catlike swagger, I suppose. At least he spent most of his time in bondage or angsting prettily, but I would've preferred more brother-on-brother interaction (cough) over the endless battle scenes. They were pretty, but after a while I just tend to zone out. In the first movie, I didn't feel like they went on for too long and always had character context.

DARCY, THOUGH.

Oh, and I thought the Thor/Jane romance worked better in this movie. It was warmer and sweeter somehow. I can't explain why that was. I'm glad I stayed for the post-credits sequence because FUCKIN' D'AWWWWWWWWW.
