Bread knobs: Ah, Paris. I have a sneaking suspicion this boulangerie is run by someone called Le Maître.

Oh, god DAMN IT, Derren Brown's reversed the telepathic circuits of his TARDIS! And here it is the right way round. Sadly, he doesn't say "I'm sorry for your coccyx, Miss Grant." Or maybe he does. Subliminally. This looks like it's going to be ( Read more... )

Do you mean hence? You might do, as in "get thee hence/away from here [in order to go thither/to the archive]." But I wasn't sure, because lots of native English speakers get them the wrong way round.

This is good. I like seeing these forms correctly used, but it happens so rarely now that I always do a double-take, like when I see "anticipate" used in its proper sense, even when it's someone who is as fluent in English as you are.

Yeah, I just like being poncy once in a while (frankly, I expected people to roll their eyes at the pretentious Latin quote, hee). And I had to correct a native speaker's it's/its confusions a few times today, so, yeah...

I dread to think what he must've put into them.

And yeah, the Finnish subtitles also have the companions addressing the Doctor in the same manner, which is weird. I can just about see Delgado!Master doing that sometimes, but having Sarah do it to Four is just odd.

Yeah, British channels and distributors seem to cut just about fucking everything these days before importing it. It's a fucking travesty. I've lost count of the number of times I've recommended some recent British series to a friend and said they should check it out when it's on Finnish telly, and then the fuckers just show horribly butchered versions. You do *not* cut Life on Mars. As you can see, it's something that makes me really fucking angry.
