Well, clearly someone wanted an explanation.

ushas42 went all Academese in the comments for the Sam Tyler/Ten pic. And since I spent about an hour writing the reply, I might as well post it here:P.

I propose that we approach this conundrum through the existentialist narratives inherent in the source material. The centerpiecing of the mirror confronts us with inquiries to the nature of reality ( Read more... )

Congratulations! That pic well deserved those 100 comments!

Inerestingly, when AMC showed Hustle over here in the States, in advertisements it was always spelled Hu$tle. Which is still silly, since only in certain special episodes did they ever deal with dollars. But whatevs.

Oh, man. That reminds me of how I'd so need to make another post of those stupid Finnish TV series and movie titles...

LMAO horologically imprisoned seigneur-du-temps with lack of gratuitious chronophalli. I'm still wondering whether a termpaper about Who and posthumanism would be a good thing... now I want to do it for the lulz.

OMG, I'd seen seigner-de-temps before, but the chronophalli (should that be one "i" or two? Can't exactly ask my 17-year-old son, he still blushes any time you say "boobies" out loud) just slays me.

Chronophalli!

Oh, crap, not sure, I think it's just one i, but fuck knows. I really should update my list of "timecock" in all languages. I think it's something like Mentula Tempus in Latin.

Ooh, the Latin's good, b/c it doesn't match up w/ any of the standard or slang English.

I'm trying to think of some incredibly obscure ones just to confuse people. Sanskrit's easy: Kalalingam. (I do love the fact that Shiva, being the god of time, is also the one the major phallic myths are attributed to, such as the axis of all time and space being his huge, ginormous tiemcock. I am sure certain Time Lords had a hand in creating those myths.)

And everyone knows "aikamuna" by now, but now I'm trying to think of an *archaic* Finnish equivalent for maximum obscurity and I should be taken out and shot.

Whoa, lookit that! I've inspired a post and everything. I'm never leaving the internet for more than 24 hours again.

I'm sorry it didn't turn up the way I wanted on the site, but glad I inspired brain bleedage. I wish I could take credit for that passage, but it's 100% genuine from a book on documentary film by some windbag named Michael Renov if you care to look it up.
