What a coincidence, I just finished rereading the Target book of the War Games last week. Loverly stuff.

It's one of the old-school stories that makes me wonder what itd have been like if Who had Internet fandom back then. Picture message boards full of "WTF IS THIS TIME LORDS SHIT? THEY'RE RUINING THE MYSTERY OF THE FUCKING CHARACTER / THEY ARE MURDERING MY CHILDHOOD HOW COULD THEY / DERRICK SHERWIN NEEDS TO DIE IN A FIRE NOW" etc.

YES! I was just thinking about the same thing! "OMG! THEY LAST STORIES OF THE MOST AWESOME DOCTOR EVER, AND THEY'RE COMPLETELY REWRITING THE FORMAT! SHERWIN, YOU CUNT!" etc, etc...

I want to re-watch this now, too, because it is so much awesome. I think I watched all ten eps the first time in the span of about a day, even getting up early to watch an episode or two before going to work, and then watching MORE on my iPod during my lunch. Because I couldn't *stop* watching it. But, oh, the ending makes me cry. It is heart-wrenching.

(I should really be watching "The Underwater Menace" recon that I got a hold of, though. NEED MOAR TWO.)

I know! I can't believe I was thinking "oh fuck, 10 eps, it's going to be too much of an effort to rewatch", and yet I kept going OMG NEED MOAR even when I should be asleep/save it up/whatevz. The pacing isn't bad and whenever it meanders a bit, the characters and the actors are just shining and doing lovely stuff (not just the usual Pat/Frazer fooling around of PURE LOVE, but everyone). And NGH WAR CHIEF NGH NGH NGH BEING SMOOTH AND A BIT CAMP IN HIS SUAVE MOVEMENTS AND GESTURES AND SEMI-BEARD-OF-EVIL AND AND AND. THAT SHOT WHERE HIM AND TWO FIRST SEE EACH OTHER? THAT LOOK OF RECOGNITION AND THEY BOTH GO "...O_O! OH SHIT!"?!? You can't fucking tell me that isn't the Master. Damn it.
