I've only ever seen it in the singular and referring to penises or as an all-encompassing term for genitalia, so blame the cat macros...

The original lolcats tend to use 'em as plural; I have noticed that the Who macros often use it as singular, I had assumed it crept in as a misreading by the "kittens cwy for Wose!" crew, whose sense of mimicry is a little... colored by their focus, shall we say. :) 'Course, going back to the 4chan definition you linked to, it could probably be filled in for pretty much anything "unmentionable".
