Pinging entropy_house! And anyone who knows anything about Potatochop tutorials.

Er... how do you do that meshing-a-cat-face-onto-a-human-face again? I'm still a bit rubbish at it. I'm trying to mesh, er, a certain type of desert lynx with a certain type of psychostrategist, mostly because I am bored and possibly have a death wish.

Halp?

lynxes, am sad wanker--send help, help?

I think I lucked out mostly with the two cat/human mergers I did that worked well (me with a red tabby and Avon with a black panther.) I doubt I did anything you haven't already tried.

I started out with cat pics at nearly the same angle and lighting as the human one, and then doing multiple layers of cat (one for each eye, the nose, mouth, mostly) over the background, and moving/tilting/resizing each to match the human below, and then I tried all the different blend modes on each bit. Sometimes I had to use a different blend mode for each piece. And I used an eraser set low (no more than 30% opacity) to blend whereever I wanted more of the human to show through.

I can only suggest you try to Harvest as many cat face pics as possible until you find one that's a good match to start.

Ooh, the main interesting tip here I didn't think of was the different layers for each facial feature. I found it difficult to duplicate layers and set them to same blend modes, because they overdid or underdid the effects, that was a bit wanky. Maybe I should try and create a matching cat face before I fiddle with the layer modes, then merge all of that into one layer, then set that to a different layer mode, maybe duplicate and play with variations, hmm... thanks for the tip!

Harvesting was bloody difficult for Caracals. There aren't many of those buggers out there. But as you can see from the results in my post after this one, even the one single pic I used worked frighteningly well for Carnell. I told Scott he reminded me of a Caracal and he exclaimed "No! A LION!" in a charming, proud way and puffed on his cigarette, Grinning Evilly(TM)... until I explained that lions are lazy bastards and just sleep all day, whereas desert lynxes are golden and have piercing eyes and *prowl*. That pleased his ego quite a bit;). Bwhahahahaha!

Good luck with it. Human/animal merges are tough.
