I'm so excited to prompt for serpentinelion's Glompfest this year! However, as I was filling out the prompting form, I realized that I was in the process of writing a freaking dissertation on my preferences, which was way too much for submitting to a fest ( Read more... )

All right, I'll bite: What in the world is MCD? Even in the context of it being a common squick, for some reason I still can't figure it out! I'm sure it'll be blindingly obvious when you tell me.

:)

Major Character Death. In this case it means either Harry or Draco dies during the course of the fic (and doesn't come back!) or they're already dead at the start and it's a grief fic :(

No worries - I frequently don't get common acronyms!

Oh! Yes, I should have figured that one out. I've just never seen it abbreviated like that before, and my head was stuck on it being something kinky, since it was in a list of things that were. :)

I should probably clarify that then :)

At one point when I was putting this together I had separate dislike lists for tropes and one for sex things I disliked and one for genres, and I was just like, get over yourself, no one needs you to go into such explicit detail about what you do and do not like! so I tried to condense it a bit. You wouldn't be able to tell from the size of the post, I'm sure!

And the truth is, I've read one or two fics that deal with character death in a moving and emotional way and which I did end up appreciating, but as a general rule, I wouldn't seek it out or prompt for it.

Hello there, potential future Glompfest recipient!

I saw your post, and thought I'd weigh in here. I'd say, in your submission, that you should mention a few things (in particular things that squick you) then put a link to this post for anyone that wants to read a more detailed listing of your likes and dislikes.

That way it won't scare people off (which is why I presume you did this rather than include everything with your prompt) but those that find the rest of your prompt interesting could pop over here to see what might fit best.

Looking forward to seeing your prompt. :)

Thank you!

You're right that I was afraid of scaring people off ! Like, here's a detailed three-page list of my opinions on everything, please pick me! :D

I definitely will include a much less extensive list of preferences in the prompt, and as you suggest, will focus on squicks. Linking to this post is a great idea.

I'm still working on polishing up the rest of my prompt submission; I plan to post it later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks again! ♥
