Guys...I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to divide up all my favorite stories into rec lists! I'm trying not to make every list about 8th year AND I'm trying to avoid to creating enormous rec posts with 20+ fics! But I seriously have a list of over a hundred 8th year fics I love, and I'm not going to be able to fit them all in by the end :(
For what it's worth, I am also trying not to repeat fics during rectober, so that means trying to place each fic on just one list each, even though some fics could easily fit into two or more. Case in point,
who_la_hoop's How to Handle an Enemy series, which could have fit in the earlier
party games rec list or the upcoming
veritaserum theme. But instead it's here!
And I built a whole theme around it too :) Here, then, are "awesomely smutty 8th year stories which are so good they required sequels" ♥

who_la_hoop How to Handle an Enemy ( NC-17 | 7,500 )
1-May-2008Summary: Everyone knows that it's no fun playing truth or dare with a Slytherin. But add a little Veritaserum, a scheming duo of Slytherin girls and surprising things can be revealed. Particularly about the fine line between love and hate…
Turnbout Is Fair Play ( NC-17 | 10,900 )
4-Nov-2012Summary: After a - cough - revealing game of truth or dare instigated by his fellow Slytherins, Draco Malfoy finds himself in possession of a). the interesting knowledge that a certain Gryffindor horror may not be as immune to his personal charms as hitherto suspected and b). the password to the Gryffindor Tower. But Draco makes a fundamental error when he decides to make use of these facts . . .
These fics are SUPER hot. (*fans self*) And they use the ever-awesome 8th-year-party-game premise, which is great. Although there's a slight twist here, as it's just the Slytherins playing, and Blaise and Pansy don't play fair... :) Draco has his drink spiked with veritaserum, so he's compelled to tell a kidnapped Harry just how he really feels about him. Not only that, but somehow he has to not just tell him but show him. Holy cow. Did I say these were super hot? I'm not kidding.

treacle_tartlet What Happens In The Quidditch Locker Rooms... ( R | 1,500 ) 26-May-2010
Summary: swear to gawd, I wrote this before I saw the community header! *giggles*
What Happens In The Library... ( R | 2,000 ) 3-Sep-2010
Summary: Shenanigans in the Hogwarts library, a sequel of sorts to the ficlet I wrote for nursedarry’s birthday a few months ago.
Hot and awkward and great for a couple of short pieces. Love how in character they feel and I just want to read more of this!

fr333bird Anyone for Scrabble? ( NC-17 | 2,500 )
3-Aug-2011Summary: Draco and Harry enjoy a heated game of Scrabble. Inspired by the interview with Tom Felton on Lopez Tonight where he mentioned staying up late playing Scrabble with Dan and it got "very heated". Flail.
Sardines ( NC-17 | 5,700 )
27-Feb-2012Summary: A sequel to Anyone For Scrabble. Another inter-house unity night brings Harry and Draco even closer.
Fun and hot and perfectly entertaining. Not deep or anything, but I liked it. Full build-up of UST leading to good sexytimes. I like that this story is mostly fluff with no angst. Not that I don't like angst, but some fun smut is always welcome too.

firethesound Don't Think Twice ( NC-17 | 8,500 )
7-Nov-2013Summary: Harry was just trying to get away for a while. He didn't mean to get trapped in the Prefect's Bath with Draco Malfoy.
It's All Right ( NC-17 | 9,600 )
18-Dec-2013Summary: This thing with Malfoy might be starting to get a little out of hand. It'd be more of a problem if Harry didn't like it so much.
Save It For Me ( NC-17 | 5,600 )
2-Jan-2014Summary: Harry returns to Hogwarts after Christmas. Malfoy's been waiting for him.
Begging ( NC-17 | 4,800 ) 16-Oct-2014
Summary: Harry and Malfoy meet up for Valentine's Day. They didn't plan it, really, that's just the way it worked out.
I love this series - it's amazing how firethesound has written what could have been just PWP yet in her hands she's made it into an in-depth exploration of two complex characters. So well done, super hot and compelling. The kink-negotiation here is top-notch - and it's an indication of how good the author is that she can make something that is not at all my kink into something super hot because of how these characters feel about it and what it means to them. It's fantastic how they're both carefully circling around the issue of how they feel about each other and acting like it's just shagging, and hiding their vulnerability, even when it seems to be becoming more.
Note: each installment in the series is complete, but the series as a whole is not. I hope there will be more - I want to know what happens next! But even if the series is not finished, it's still totally worth reading as-is.
