Bah, still a giant backlog of LJ stuff. Went off to a concert tonight- the Maryville College Choir was on a small tour, and was in NY. It wasn't bad, I guess, but Oberlin has spoiled me. Please don't tell me college is perfect for... stuff. I'm about to leave it for a 4-year stint as an underpaid researcher in the hopes that afterwards I get to do something cool. Don't crush my fragile attempts to emotionally distance myself from college.

It's just not nice.

Hey. I didn't try and convince you of it, and instead bounded off on why the Present is Awesome, and the Past Sucked.

But, you know, if you insist, I can sing the wails of torment later on why nothing will ever be as good again.

Yeah, I always thought I had strange tastes for rooting for those three things you discussed in fiction (along with the main character massively screwing up and the head villain triumphing). But I suppose it's not actually all that surprising that other people share those tastes--after all, there does seem to be a formulaic hero and action plot that we seem to get spoon-fed to us far too often, and it does get tiring.
