“Christ, you mean you weren’t the biggest nutcase there?”

So, *so* Gene. This is lovely. Sam Tyler and Sam Vimes are quite similar in the way they are *police*, forever and ever.

As to thing from the Dungeon Dimension, eek! I did like how it was so wrong, and that was Sam Tyler got close to it, time ripped. That was a great effect.

Yay, thanks!

Once I started writing, I kept seeing more and more parallels between the Sams. But writing two people with the same name is very confusing.

Me too. It's just lurking there in my head waiting to come out with stuff like this.

My brain used Paul Daniels as a plot device. Bwuh?

But thank you for the love. I haven't written fic in ages. Now I remember why it's fun.

Awesome! I had the idea of this crossover floating around my brain (it was the Night Watch connection that triggered it; two time-travelling coppers called Sam), so it's great to see someone write such a good version of it. Lovely stuff!

Ditto. I was discussing Nightwatch/LOM the other night.

One tiny pick - to the best of my knowledge (which includes quite a few coppers, including one who occasionally still uses the word "plonk" to describe WPCs), there's no such thing as a Detective Superintendent - DS is only Detective Sergeant, but a Superintendent or a Chief Superintendent is just that - no detective in front. Presumably because at that rank no-one cares which way you climbed the ladder.

I'm quite certain there are Det Supts in some forces at least - and in fiction it's Jane Tennison's rank in Prime suspect.

I thought that Superintendents in the criminal branch (as opposed to administrative, which is also a valid route of progression) were always called just Superintendents these days in the UK, due to the abbreviation otherwise being the same as Detective Sergeant? Kind of in the way that "the Hon." for the younger children of the nobility below a certain rank is only for written correspondence and is never used in verbal communications.

Could be wrong - never met a Det.Super who have introduced themselves as such, although I've known a couple of Supers in my time and at least one of them was a Det.Super in terms of job. But that may be just because he's a drinking mate, not someone I have to deal with in a work sense.

BTW, completely forgot earlier - loved the fic! Really remiss of me to forget to say it in my first comment.
