If you are able to see this BBC4 documentary on Glen Campbell please do. I've loved that song for years.

I knew Campbell was suffering from Alzheimers. It's always a pity to hear of it. I also think he was often considered too pop for country stations and too country for pop and somehow missed the heights he might have hit for that reason (and drink, etc.).

One of the things the documentary touched on was how he was quite a big star in the UK and indeed came over here to capitalise on the huge popularity in 70s Britain for Country music. I didn't realise we were seen as such an important and big market! Interesting you reckon his pop roots may have damaged him back in the states - I think here the country acts that had one foot firmly in pop were definitely the biggest stars.
