Blair's Top 10 Looks of Season 1

Yes, I do watch like Gossip Girl. Yes, I know it's a terribly shallow show. And no, I don't care what you think about it. Hey, something's gotta tide me over until Lost (Jan 21!). In the meantime, I have developed quite an addiction to the passionate, transient relationship of Blair and Chuck; darn you, writers, they keep me watching! And needless to say, I am drooling over the killer clothes all of the girls wear, especially Blair Waldorf, the deliciously catty yet vulnerable protagonist.

Here, I compile a Top 10 list of Blair's best looks from Season 1 so you can fantasize over wearing them too (Season 2's list soon to follow, as soon as Season 2 ends). Curiously enough, only half of them involve a headband, despite it being Blair's signature accessory. This has nothing to do with a dislike of headbands. On the contrary, I started collecting them long before I started watching Gossip Girl. Anyway, enough chitchat, on to the list!

10. The Red Tights (Hi, Society) - Blair is known for wearing tights with almost everything--and in almost every color imaginable. However, she always does this tastefully (nothing annoys me more than girls who wear a jean skirt, tights, and Uggs in the winter. Blech!) Here, she pairs a beautiful pair of cherry red tights with a sleek jacket and top with more subdued colors of black, grey, and navy. I love how your eyes immediately leap to her slender legs, yet it's not risque in any way (*cough cough* Serena's short skirt). Cute flats as well!

9. The "Captain" Dress (Much I Do About Nothing) - This dress has an awesome vintage look to it, and, as always, navy really brings out the creaminess of Blair's skin. It's sexy yet sophisticated, the very embodiment of Blair. This looks even better with the matching hat, but I couldn't find a good picture of it on the Internet. You'll just have to take my word for it.

8. The School Uniform (Pilot) - Blair always looks so put together with a style that is prim, preppy, yet still feminine, as you can see by the touches of lace on her white shirt. I also love the contrast between the yellow headband and her dark brown hair. Blue and yellow really complement each other when paired correctly, and someone should give the wardrobe staff a raise, because they nailed it! I honestly think Blair looked the best in the Pilot episode. As the season goes on, she looks less like Blair and more like Leighton (the actress who plays Blair), which isn't bad per se, since Leighton is beautiful; it's just different (especially those blond highlights in the early episodes of the second season, which looked awful on Blair).

7. Cherry Blossom (Poison Ivy) - I love this top! The pattern is just so girly and delicate, and reds never fail on brunettes (I seriously own about five red tops). The fact that this is the scene when Blair and Serena finally bury the hatchet makes it that much sweeter.

6. The Bandeau Bikini (School Lies) - Usually, I think bandeau bikinis look too uncomfortable, but it works here. Naturally, Blair would outshine the rest of the girls with her swimsuit, and this is a stellar bikini. I also have this thing for polka dots (my homecoming dress was red with light polka dots too!).

5. The Debutante Ball Dress (Hi, Society) - This is a love-it-or-hate-it dress, and I frankly think she looks fantastic in it. The way it cuts open in the front makes it seem less cumbersome and restrictive, unlike that really tight dress Anya had to hobble like a penguin in in the Season Finale of ANTM. The detailing on top is stunning, and the dress as a whole accentuates her slender frame. I personally don't think the bow is too big, and even though it's silver, not white (aren't all debutante ball dresses supposed to be white?), it's just the right dress for Blair!

4. Mustard Yellow Dress (Woman on the Verge) - Even though I absolutely loathe this color anywhere else, it magically works on Blair (mainly because this girl can pull off anything). It has the retro look, as well as pretty subtle details, which make this dress so extraordinary (the front buttons and dainty white bow, subtle ruched detail). The more I look at it, the more it grows on me. The headband is also great (one of her best!).

3. White Eyelet Dress (The Wild Brunch) - She looks just like a doll here, the crisp white eyelet pattern of her dress contrasting against her curly dark tresses. On the other hand, I hate her headband. It too closely resembles a gift wrap bow, and I'm sorry, but not even Blair can pull off something like that; it's just wrong. Regarding the patterned tights, I'm undecided. Part of me thinks it clashes with the pattern of her dress, while the other part of me has a soft spot for zany tights. What do you think?

2. The Silver Straps (All About My Brother) - My second favorite dress of the entire season! At first glance, it's hardly extraordinary, but in the context of this episode (Blair's crashing Jenny's party to show her who's really queen of the UES), it's simply amazing. Blair moves about in it  as if she really is a queen. It's so classy! I couldn't find a good enough picture, since few people share my ardor for this dress, so here's a few blurry ones.

And finally...which outfit got my pick as best look of Season 1?

1. Black Lace Dress (Pilot) - I said before that Blair looked the best in the Pilot episode and here I'll say it again. Her dress is gorgeous, her hair perfect, and her makeup flawless. She definitely radiates that aura of bitchiness and intimidation in her very first scene. She's the porcelain doll that you keep on a pedestal, yet don't dare touch for fear of soiling its pristine perfection. I don't know what else to say, except, "I want this dress!!"

Here's the best of the rest:

Beautiful fresh spring colors! It's bold, but still appropriate.

Beautiful headband, it completely fits that red-navy theme she has going on. I'd so pick her over Jenny any day.

I love her coat here!

Aside from the rather dull colors, I love this entire ensemble--the cape, dress, and tights are all beautiful!
