Off-season has started and I had an idea...

Yes. The world championship is over and the withdrawal already starting to kick in. But before it goes completely (October, damn it, waiting until October!) I thought it might be good to try and harness some of that snooker induced energy to take over the world! produce more fic. Then I thought, hmm, maybe a ficathon or challenge or something while ( Read more... )

I've voted... but I have a question. Apologies if this is showing my ignorance to a mind-numbing degree of stupidity etc but what do exchange-based and prompt-based mean?

Oops, yes, sorry if I wasn't clear (will edit post) and hope this is.

Exchange based: You sign up saying you'd like someone to write either Ronnie/Selby, Robertson/Day or Ronnie/Stevens (there may be other restrictions or not). Then everyone gets someone else's request (You might get someone wanting one of Stevens/Robertson/Hunter, O'Sullivan/Hendry or Davis/Ebdon). Everyone then writes a story that (hopefully) their recipient'll like, stories are posted at some point later and it all works, hurrah!

Prompt-based: Either everyone throws in prompts (objects, quotes, emotions, (but not pairings) etc) - like 'dressing room', 'late night practice', Your head's going through the mincer. Or random prompts are given after sign-ups. Fic is written with the prompts in mind and then later posted and so on.

Exchanges generally involve matching people to requests (not giving somone who hates Murphy someone else's request which is all Murphy!slash) which might be a bit difficult whereas prompt-based ones have a bit more freedom.

*light pings on in head*

Ahh I see. Both of those sound fun actually so I would be easy either way so to speak.

Does Murphyslash even exist?! *shudders*

I thought about picking "Read - I'm avoiding writing like Stevens is avoiding the top sixteen" 'cause my writing isn't at it's best at the moment. but as I like Maffew so much and I'm at home with no boyfriend (meaning I could start writing again)... so yes, writing, because I'm in the mood...

Neat. And I hope your writing mojo returns to you as swiftly Matthew to the top 16!
