It is astonishing that our Virginia Republican controlled House of Delegates is willing to continue to refuse compromise and block any sort of transportation relief for Virginians stuck in traffic. I'm no expert in Virginia politics (given I don't live there) but it seems to me there are few critical issues regarding funding.

1. The democrats planned called for across the state wide tax increases to fund a transportation relief plan.

2. The republicans did forward a plan, shot down by the democrats, to suggest offshore drilling revenue be diverted to transportation.

So the question is, you call for compromise, but what do you consider compromise?

While I personally would benefit enormously from being in Maryland, or DC, or even a new NoVA state... it breaks many things... and depending on where you draw the line the worst offenders would likely end up in the break off portion!

Yeah. The diverse shenanigans imposed on the people of Virginia since the days of Jim "don't distract me with fiscal facts" Gilmore's assault on fiscal sanity have led me to my declaration that I have no interest in residing in Virginia.

Certainly, NoVa is a golden goose whose economic power provides revenues that are used to subsidize projects in more rural parts of the state. If the legislature continues to throttle it, it could have a bad effect on the amount of lucre available to redistribute.
