OK, as I am an inveterately bad present buyer, I never expect presents from other people. Chances are if you are my friend you have experienced a moment of "Damn, Kim forgot my birthday?" or "Thanks for the... hug." Nevertheless, there are always people who are still most generous of spirit who want to get me presents for my birthday. For these ( Read more... )

Thanks! It doesn't seem like much but in real games I get stuck in right field much of the time, and not many balls come out there. So I don't get much practice and then have no confidence in my ability to see where the ball is going. So this is a big deal for me. :)

No, I complete understand. I've been following your softball adventures and I'm truely happy for you. Think about it. To catch a ball, you are doing Trigonometry! :)

My hand was totally trigonometrized into the right place, because that ball was way the hell over my head so it's not like I actually saw what happened. Yeah!

I've stopped doing almost all of it. I basically get people presents when I think I've found something that they would really love and couldn't just pick up themselves. I am about 7 weddings behind on wedding presents, and I'm pretty sure this means I'm going to burn in hell forever.

I'd love to offer that Jack caused this, because he actually hasn't done presents forever and has like, actual reasons and ideals behind it, but it's my own fault. Just because we're romantic partners doesn't mean his rules always apply to me.

I get so pleased to hear all the exciting new foods you are eating! I know we still love us some steak and a pot of Kraft mac & cheese, but seared tuna?! I may burst with excitement for your expanded menu options. :)

The tuna thing has its roots at a Ruth's Chris steak house. I only get to go there like once every berjillion years but man, their tuna appetizer turned over a whole new tuna leaf for me.

Seared tuna is awesome. Three tricks for making it (which you probably already know): gently rinse the raw fish and pat dry before anything else to take some of the fishy taste off the outside, coat in a layer of sesame seeds to protect the exterior, and sear for at most 3 minutes a side on the hottest fire you can find. I like the huge burner on my stove and my cast iron skillet, though one of these days I should try the grill (or even the grill chimney thing) because it gets hotter.
