CAPS LOCK OF SURPRISE!

My mother is insane.  Also, incredibly generous.  These two things are not at all mutually exclusive, case in point:

Nick's brother had a dance competition in Baltimore (his bro is a Ballroom/Latin dancer who teaches professionally and attends a lot of these competitions), which is, oh, an hour away from my home in PA.  My mother offered to put ( Read more... )

I am concerned for her budget. Seriously, that's...hundreds of dollars of food, right there. It makes me bite my nails.

At least the brussel sprouts didn't come labeled "cabbage patch kids" or something.

I...whaaaaat?! That's bizarre!

brussel sprouts look like the cabbage patches in the old books before they became babies! Another reason I won't eat them, I keep thinking at any moment it will open and smile at me...

Moms are best! That was really nice of her.

I was going to get Nick a crockpot for his birthday, but now I'll have to think of something else. ;) When is his birthday, and yours for that matter?

I'm just floored. And this is only four months after she sent me home after Christmas, the back of end of my Ford dragging under the weight of a similar grocery run.

You frighten me with your ability to remember these things that are mentioned in passing! Nick has been rhapsodizing about the crockpot all day; it's adorable.

His birthday is December 8. Mine is, um, coming up in May. I'm not sure I want to do anything for it, because A) our apartment has a max capacity of eight people, and B) I suffer from a combination of noonewillcome-itis and they'llthinkitsanexcuseforpresents-aphobia.

It's May 19th. You put it in your facebook.

Annie, should we host the party the weekend before or the weekend after if she isn't willing?

Everyone needs a good crockpot. Nick's chili is very important to him!

As for your birthday:
A) I have heard of places called "restaurants" that allow you to use their rooms and food, and even split the check. Also, you know many people with large living rooms that love you and would help out.

B) Don't be silly. Of course people would come! And you can have a "no presents" policy if that really bothers you, but sometimes people enjoy giving presents to their friends.

@mixmasteremike yes we should totally throw Nicky a party if she will let us.

Well if you need to make room, I will gladly take some of it off of your hands considering I'm a starving college student out here! haha

I would be happy to pass along some of it ^^ You can have a packet of enchiladas, and some sausage (I know how you like Italian sausage) if you want! Oh, and chicken...good LORD did she ever pile on the chicken.

*frowns* Ummm, are you being sarcastic? Do you not recall how I'm a vegetarian? Sheesh, I can't believe you forgot, you're my sister! I meant I would take some of the veggies or fish or olives

Yeah, totally forgot. Maybe Zac might like something to eat while he's staying with you. As for the veggies, she sent two packs of brussel sprouts (which you're welcome to) and one thing of asparagus (keeping that for soup, along with the crab). I love salmon more than you, and the shrimp won't keep that long.

Help yourself to all the olives you want, as we have enough to last us through the zombie apocalypse.

My mom has WAY too much fun doing things like this. And then she complains when I drop money at Christmas. She is gonna have a hard time coping with The Shawl.
