Yay my boys! I love the sleeve! And the frills of the fashion cover it up in most situations easily, except on the rare occasions when Shaw wants to make someone piss themselves, except they fear even to do that because he could use it against them.
Niven goes rummaging through other people's drawers. He admits this.
I like Ama! It does fill in a few holes for him. Like why he was so willing to be sibling'd by Niven. Niven though, he's just got weird mother hen tendencies.
The boy's a prodigy, but they probably held back on giving him the tattoos until a more acceptable age, to keep people from challenging him to duels all the time (that, and I don't want to draw it. He can get it when he's drafted!)
I imagine that they found out about Ama when Niven came running to Adelai with what he thought to be love letters (SHOCK! Shaw has feelings!). He's a total gossip.
Shaw and Luca probably get along splendidly, when they meet. They both have a "You want to pick a fight about my sister?" complex. That, and they have to keep putting clothes back on said sisters (though Adelai would like to point out that Ama is CRAZY while she can only camo the clothing that touches skin).
Yeah, it would look bad to get your family's name smeared by an adolescent ^_^
Poor Shaw has to dress Adelai AND Niven, who just wrecks his clothes hulk-style on a regular basis because taking the time to strip gives the prey the cruel hope that they can run fast enough while he is occupied with buttons (so many stupid buttons!). His nice coats are specially tailored for easy escape.
Shaw vs Ama, the younger years! Why Shaw now has short hair: girls cheat and fire is NOT ALLOWED in practice duels! It's the rules, dammit!
I imagine there were many "Adel-AUGHGODHEREMYJACKET!" moments for both Niven and Shaw. No wonder things never got romantic; they saw her in her underwear too often as impressionable adolescents, and they associate it with awkward embarrassment. Whereas Adelai associates Niven-nudity with eight foot tall lizardmen. *facepalm* Is it any surprise that they're both a little fixated on Shaw? He's like the only one they can look in the face.
I think there's enough of an age-gap that Shaw's memories of sane!Ama are probably tinged with child heroworship. By the time he was old enough for said practice duels, she was nuts enough to burn him. That was probably the final straw for his family.
