"I thought you were dead" "Half."

So, I gave in and went to Health Services today. It helped that I felt like utter crap, still. I called my internship supervisor at the press, and she was okay with my taking a sick day. I then made an appointment. My chest is still annoyingly interruptive. Just standing up or talking makes me feel like my lungs are completely empty. And dizzy ( Read more... )

Yeah from what you described I think you definitely have some bacterial infection, so take those antibiotics as much as you can tolerate. Especially if you're coughing up green. And wtf? about the nurse. Maybe if she had taken down ALL of your symptoms maybe you'd get a more accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment! I hope you feel better soon!
Oh what was your official diagnosis if it wasn't pneumonia?

The thing is, there wasn't an official diagnosis. The lady just kind of said, "I'll give you anti-biotics just in case it's a bacterial infection. So take them and other medicine for the symptoms, like Mucinex D or something. If you're not feeling any better next week, come back."

So...that was about it. I do think it feels like it's loosening up, so yeah, probably bacterial and not viral, which is a good thing.

I've learned that Rutgers intake nurses are pretty crappy, but the doctor I usually see always makes sure I address every ailment with her before letting me leave. Unfortunately, she was booked solid yesterday, so I had to see this new nurse-practitioner. I'm not against nurse-practitioners, I mean, my usual physician back at home is one, and I love her. But she's really good. This one...not so much.

Hope you're feeling better...I'm allergic to Z-Paks, so I always had to get some dramatically more expensive alternative when I went to the LSU health center

I only took Z-paks for the first time this summer, this is my second go round. I hadn't heard of it before, but I keep being told it's good for the throat/chest crap. It's not expensive, so that really sucks you had to get something else. I know my doc back at home, one time, gave me antibiotics that were Sulfur-based, so they were just as efficient, and dirt cheap. It's worth noting, especially now that you're out of LSU. I'm not sure the range of antibiotics the sulfur-bases extend to, though.
