I remember there being a story concerning your first question. I believe in that story, Harry was sorted into a different house other than Gryffindor (either Ravenclaw or Slytherin). He has some paternal feelings for Snape at first but I believe that they become romantic later on. In the first couple of chapters, he sees Snape in the Mirror along with his parents.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the story title at the moment. But rest assured, the story does exist.
