Thanks, Krissy. I despise plagiarism, too. I can't conceive of even wanting to take credit for someone else's work. It's just wrong.
I thought of you the other day. My co-worker was having quite a time with an extrmemly difficult, frequently overdrawn, unemployed bank customer who didn't like the Reg CC hold we put on his ginormous insurance check. He threatened to call the government on us! It was actually hilarious, and I thought to myself that if you were here, you'd let him know what was what!
I suspect that it goes undetected a lot in such a sprawling fandom as Harry Potter, especially in the big ships like H/Hr where its just too big for everyone to know everything posted--even the good stuff. In old Trek this couldn't, wouldn't happen, you couldn't even so much as use a similar idea w/o acknowledgements in notes w/o the whole fandom coming down on you. HP? Not so much. Although it always floors me that so many are word for word. What possible satisfaction can you get?
I only hope khaelmohrdan doesn't rely deception in other aspects of his/her life.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Wanna bet?
I'm sorry if things out there have been making you feel crappy. As crappy as all this is, I was just happy to see you pop up on my flist.
Thanks, chick. Funny thing is, I'm not angry, just disappointed. And there is no satisfaction in thievery. It only leads to more discontent. I'm actually a bit surprised she didn't post the whole thing.
Don't let this affect your view of the world. If you do, think of all of your fans and friends who are willing to kick her butt and give her a piece of their minds. Want me to go over there and leave some well chosen words for her?
I've beyond angry for you, but a small part of me feels a little bit sorry for her that she has to lie, cheat, and steal to get some form of positive recognition in her life. "Please or please review! It'll make me so happy!" Sad. Those positive reviews are for your work. Grr...
Thanks, Megan. I appreciate it. Honestly, I hadn't thought about submitting it to any anti-plagiarism group because it appears that after her posting in May 2008, she quite literally disappeared. She apparently only posted reviews at two sites, Mugglenet and harrypotterfanfiction. So posting to the group might be a moot point. But thanks for the suggestion!
